Juliet's Voice

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to mention this, and it also may have been brought up somewhere else, so forgive me if I am in the wrong place bringing up something previously discussed.

But, my husband and I are re-watching the last episode. I thought I heard this the first time I watched and confirmed it tonight. When Jack first starts conversing with the lady in the shower at the start of the episode, we have no idea who is in there. The first bit of dialogue spoken between Jack and the lady....the ladies' voice is that of Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet. I'm convinced of it. I believe they did this to throw us off the tracks for a moment and mess with us. Did anyone else notice and agree?

It did sound like they were trying to disguise it, but I didn't catch that it was Juliet. They disguised Ben's voice in the Sayid flashforwards at the vets office too. I believe it is just supposed to be a suspense building technique, but it would be wild if they were all Smokey manifestations or something.

Originally, I thought I heard Juliet, then Sun (!), and then finally Kate, who stepped out of the shower at that moment. I think the writers/producers like to play with us a bit and it worked with me. Especially because they left some pauses between the lines during those scenes. Because I...literally.......went through the sequence of....."OMG, it's Juliet!"......."No!, it's SUN!!!", and then...."ohh, it's Kate."

and having just re-watched it....I'm sure they used Elizabeth Mitchell for the first lines, as is my husband, who never agrees with me.......

Can I use your thread to ask a somewhat related question? In S4E10, Jack is unconscious from his appendix problems. As he comes to, we see a fuzzy image of a blonde woman hovering over him and calling his name. It looks like his ex-wife Sarah to me. Then as his vision clears, we see that it is actually Juliet. Did you notice this also? Between this and the disguised voice in the shower, I think Jack is a little messed up in the romance department. It all reminded me of this conversation between Jack and Claire back in S1:

Jack: Did you ever sleep walk before?
Claire: No. I don't think so. How would I know?
Jack: It'll get back to you. I had a girlfriend once that uh... told me I talked in my sleep.
Claire: What did you say?
Jack: Don't know. Whatever it was she didn't like it.

I sure didn't think it sounded like Kate at all until she opened the door. I didn't think it was Juliet either. Huh.

I was convinced it was Juliet's voice, but I was quite certain it belonged to Kate though.. :/

I also thought it was Juliet. Wouldn't surprise me either if they used EM for that one line. TPTB like lame fake-outs :)

My first thought was "OMG it's Juliet!". I was completely shocked when Kate walked out of the shower.

I can't say I thought it was Juliette ... but right when that entire scene sequence started (Jack waking up in the bed), my wife blurted out "He's at Kate's place!" ... I didn't believe her, because the land line was ringing, and when Jack answered it was for him ... so I figured he was at his own home ...

Then, when he picked up the red panties, I thought he had brought home a one-night-stand, and had been so totally wasted the night before that he didn't even remember that he brought a woman home until he saw the panties on the floor ... (grin)

To the point ... when Jack entered the bathroom with someone in the shower, and I heard the voice from the woman, I blurted out "Well, it's not Kate, is it?!" because it definitely did NOT sound like Kate ... In fact, I didn't recognize the voice at all ... but the important thing is that I didn't think that it was Kate at all ... not until she showed herself coming out of the shower ...

I'd not be surprised at all, not in the least, if TPTB used any number of voices, or voice manipulation, to make sure we couldn't tell it was Kate until they showed us definitively that it was indeed Kate in the shower, and Kate's home ...

I thought it was Juliette at first too, but when i watched it for a 2nd time, they are Kate's lines, though cleverly disguised. They did the same with juliette waking jack up at the start, upon a 2nd listen though, it's def her voice.

I think part of it's denial though, as secretly, i bet most of us want her to end up with the infinitley more interesting Sawer.

I had the same experience, I shouted, "That's Kate's house" as soon as Jack walked through the front door. It kinda makes you wonder, if they really wanted to build suspense, don't make it so obvious that it was Kate's house. I was thrown for a second when I heard the voice in the shower, but I was hardly surprised to see Kate walk out.

It makes me wonder if the synthesized the voices together. If you've seen the film LOTR: The Two Towers, they used the fused/synthesized voice for the first seen when Gandalf appears as Gandalf the White.

It is first predominantly Christopher Lee's voice (when we can't see who it is), ans slowly cross fades to Ian McKellan's voice when he is slowly revealed to be Gandalf.

I was on voice Yahoo with someone, and we both shouted out, "that's Juliet", then kinda went "Kate?" when she came out of the shower.

I don't think it's EM. I think EL is disguising her voice, but it still sounds like her to me.

It was similar to Vanilla Sky where TC heard one voice(Penelope Cruz), then woke from his dream cycles to another face(Cameron Diaz). Was strange that way.

Actually, that brings up another issue. When Jack was in his office and walking towards the shadow that was Christian, who then spoke to him, I thought it was the voice of Tom. Anyone else get that? Considering the episode focused on mishears, I would not be surprised if it was Tom's voice.

To me it definitely sounded like Juliet's voice from the shower, although it might have been Kate doing a Juliet impression (speaking in a husky voice). In any case, some enterprising individual could maybe get a look at the script to see which actress it actually was.

Having said all that, I knew it was Kate in the shower because Jack not only picked up panties from his room, but also a Star Wars toy from the kitchen. Kate + Aaron fit too well in that situation to be a coincidence.

It was 100% Juliets voice, I actually paused while watching the first time and was talking to myself in my head saying, oh my god he's with Juliet! Resumed and then it was Kate! It was 100% Juliet talking...
