When Locke emerged from Jacob's cabin charged with the task of moving the island, I began thinking about how he could carry out such a task when a possible solution presented itsself to me. We know that part of the Dharma Initiative's experiments were in time travel from the Orchid video. If these experiments weren't as localized as we are lead to believe, it's possible that it wasn't just the rabbit that was effected, but the entire island was thrown of sync with the outside world.

From there it's not such a stretch to think that ensuing time travel attempts would widen that chaism so that now the island is only accessible to those who have the precise route charted. Moving the island would then be as simple as recreating one of those time travel experiments in the Orchid to change the route of approach to the island and thereby masking it from the world once more, as it can never really exist in the now that the rest of the world exists in.

along those lines what if he meant "move the island" in time as opposed to physically

Moving to Spoilers.

Lyonyssa, the Orchid vidio was not aired on the show and is therefore considered spoiler under the guidelines of Lost-TV.

IMO, that's exactly what he meant.
