View Full Version : Abbadon - is he a future Walt?

I believe Matthew Abbdabon is Walt in the future - a time travelling Walt.

One of the BIG reasons I feel Abbadabon is a future/cloned Walt is the way he spoke to Locke.

He called him Mr Locke, which Walt always did, and he also said John "owed him one" the next time he met. Could THAT have been finding Vincent?

Remember too, it was Walt who saved Locke when Ben shot him....and he DID appear much taller...as if he has differing incarnations....

Gives and even bigger twist to the line in season one...

"Hey Walt - do you wanna know a secret?"

Wow, I like this. Its major speculation but anything can be!

I was thinking the same things - but for me it was when he started talking about the island and how it changed him. I can't recall the exact wording, but that is when I thought Abbadon could be Walt.

Plus he knows he will see Locke again - another one of Walt's qualities?

Sometimes an Abaddon is just an Abaddon...

But anythings possible I suppose.

yeah... the "Mr. Locke" comment made me think the same thing

when they meet again....

obvious abbadon and Walt are connected......

I don't buy it.

And I don't think this would have entered anyone's mind if both Walt and Abaddon weren't black. Hope we're not falling into that whole "all the black or asian or female or blonde people on the show are connected" thing.

I don't buy the connection either. Since Locke was in a wheelchair for 4 years before the crash, that would mean Abbadon was a grown man tending to Locke while Walt was at least 4 years old. We don't know exactly how much time elapsed between Abbadon suggesting the walkabout and Locke actually going but any scenario would have them existing at the same time. I can't buy a grown Walt and future Walt existing at the same time just based on him calling John "Mr. Locke". I would think that most hospital employees would call him Mr. Locke as opposed to John. That's just normal protocol.

Walt appeared older because the "actor" is growing up and it may be explained by the fact that the island is healing and perhaps growth takes place at a faster rate.

Abbadon said "you owe me one" because Locke gets to walk again - and that's becasue he sent Locke on a walk about which resulted in the island.

Meaning the crash or the landing was indeed destiny.

Not every African American is related nor are they all either Eco, Yemi, Walt, Rose or Mike. ;)

So present Walt and future Walt exsist in the the same time and space?

My real problem with this theory, and I also thought about it at first, is the way Abbadon responded when he met with Hurley. Had it been Walt, he would have probably called him Hurley at some point, just slipping, but he did not.

Even if unfeasible, I still think this is a cool idea. :)

I think TPTB are definitely pointing to some connection. Abbadon's talk about miracles references the Walt/Locke dialogue all the way back in S1 E2-3, where Locke asks if Walt wants to know a secret, and later Walt recounts to his father that Locke said that a that a miracle happened to him.

ORDERLY: . . . You survived falling eight stories out of a building. That's a miracle, Mr. Locke. Let me ask you something. Do you believe in miracles?
LOCKE: No. I don't believe in miracles.
ABADDON: You should. I had one happen to me.

Now I'd hate to see cute, cuddly Walt grow up to be weird, scary Abbadon, but it would not be a stretch for this show.

Walt being Abbadon also fits in with the "Walt is special" theme and can bridge the gap, if needed, between kid Walt and adult Walt. I'm not saying that TPTB are definitely going that direction, but I don't think it's beyond them to set up the framework for a possible future direction which they may or may not ultimately take.

And if TPTB hadn't meant to suggest some connection between Walt and Abbadon, they could have made it less of a suggestion by picking a weird, scary WHITE actor to play Abbadon.

Did you say that out loud before you typed it? That's got to be one of the most asinine (and a little racist) things I've seen on these boards. :rolleyez:

It was a bit racist. I took offence from it.

I apologize. It wasn't meant to be racist. I have deleted that comment from my original post.

If TPTB had meant to suggest a connection, they would have at least tried to find an actor that could possibly be him as an adult. The man who plays Abbadon has facial features that are very striking. There is no way he could be Walt. No way.

I think this evening we will discover that theory is correct: Walt is Abaddon.

I believe this was not the writers' original intention for Walt, but as he grew this was an elegant way to weave him into the conclusion of the story. Walt is Abaddon. With the new revelations about time bending, the nature of the island, it is all the more plausible as a plot strategem.

Here's another reason why this idea is just pure lunacy (not to mention racism on this predominantly white message board): why? Yes, my reason is a question...why?

Also, usually when someone doesn't know someone they call them "Mr." or "Mrs." to be polite. Abbadon just met Locke..why would he call him John?
