I just had a thought that I wanted to air. It's not so much a theory as a question that I don't think I've seen anyone ask so far. Since the latter part of my "theory" is more speculation than fact, I decided to post it here.
When Richard meets young Ben in the forest for the first time, Ben tells him of seeing his mother on the island. Richard seems really excited about the fact that Ben can see her on the island even though she died off of it.
A lot of dead characters have turned up "alive" as apparitions or in dreams. Yemi and Christian Shephard are two dead characters that come to mind as having manifested not in a dream but in the "real world", on-island. Mysteriously, both of their bodies are no longer where they are expected to be. Christian is missing from his casket although it looks like it's in perfect condition. Granted, he could have fallen out of the casket as it flew through the air and landed somewhere else. But Eko found Yemi's body, and after having seen his brother alive, the body was no longer where he found it. So obviously, something hints strongly in the direction that somebody or something removed the bodies, or "consumed" them somehow, in order to be able to "duplicate" them. Now this is where I get a little far-fetching and vague. I mean to have read a spoiler or rumor that we will see Christian Shephard's funeral this season. There is one other spoiler that may be considered a little major, so read it on your own risk.
A scene with the Oceanic 6 in a rescue boat has Sawyer carrying a seventh person who seemed to be knocked out of conscience.. Or dead.
Now as far as I am concerned, these things seem to hint at the fact that Christian Shephard's body MIGHT be found. Someone posted somewhere, either here or on DarkUFO's site, saying maybe Sawyer found his body in the jungle and somehow managed to identify the body as Jack's father. If he was already on his way, the peril that only six people are able to leave for some reason already being a fact, it could make sense that he brought the body. Considering his and Jack's little moment back in season one, and that Christian probably helped steer him away from his killing ways.
Now my question, or theory, is how this will affect Locke's visits to Jacob's cabin. If the body is in fact needed to be present on the island, could this mean that, similarly to how Locke blew up the sub and screwed things up for Jack while continuing on his own mission, Jack now "returns the favor" unknowingly, by bringing his father's body off the island for burial? Maybe this could cause a halt with Locke and Jacob somehow (reaching far here, I know) and explain why Ben seems to be back as the man in charge of the battle for the island in the future.
And if anything, since whatever manifested the Yemi apparition seemed to have taken his body, presumably it did the same with Christian's body, so how does anybody find it if that's who is being taken off the island? Did the smoke monster/the island/some other force simply take his body and move it to another apparently random location? Why?
