Christian Shepherd and Carole littleton.

They brought an awesome daughter into the world. They're doing something right.

That's what Claire needs...a baby flashback. What was Christian doing when he started a love affair with an Australian woman, anyway? Giving a speech at Mittelos Bioscience convention?

You mean "What was he doing in Australia?", right. We know what he was "doing" doing. He was cheating on his wife with a woman who would later be so callous as to come up to his son at his memorial and shove the affair in his face.

How Christian and Carole ever managed to conceive a child like Claire is beyond me. She should have turned out the most selfish, vain, arrogant, egotistical young woman ever. She should have played Charlie like a Hofner Bass knowing that when they got off the island he'd be her sugar daddy for ever.

Your making it out that Carole is your typical everyday mistress. She finished the affair because she didn't like that he had an other family. Who's to say she knew at the time Claire was concieved.

I think Carole truly loved Christian, and if you loved someone, you should go to their Funeral. Maybe telling Jack about her sister was bad, but he had the right to know.

Well I guess this affair had been going on for a while, maybe since that first flashback we got of Jack's. Because you figure if Jack was...what, 10? in that, then Claire was probably a few years old already. Jeeze. That kinda sucks now that I think about it more.

Jack was 18 when Claire was born.

He's 40 or over now. And Claire is 22.

Excuse me, Ian, but are you watching the same show I am?

Carole had to be convinced by her sister to get away from Christian. She was walking through life wearing very dark rose colored glasses, convinced that Christian was going to leave his wife and marry her. Read the transcripts from Two for the Road and um, the episode which comfirms that Christian is Claire's father, can't remember the title.

Seriously, I should change the title of this thread to Gold Digggah & Cheaterrr!

Well, we have no evidence whatsoever of that ever happening. Only that Claire's aunt hated Christian. None of that other stuff you mentioned happened on the show. If you saw a scene that I didn't, then I'd be happy to witness it.

Carole loved the way Christian swirled his scotch on the rocks.

Oh, that reminds me...in White Rabbit Christian said that he watched the "Carole Burnett Show" after work.

Yeah, it was awesome...one of the best Final Fantasy in the series.

However, my favorite SNES game is Earthbound.

Maybe Carole and Christian bonded over playing Final fantasy games.

Would that make you like the couple more, TBC? :D

As a general rule, I don't really care for adulterous couples, Ian. I suppose drabauer would point out the role in extramarital affairs in classical literature. (Did I mention that I <3 Doc Amy?) In probably the oldest grand classical epic of Western Literature, Homer's two part tale of the war between Troy and the combined might of the Greek city-states (That's Homer, the dead Greek dude, not Homer the board moderator, although it's easy to get those two mixed up. Their ages are similar and they are both pretty awesome. ;) ) there are several underlaying morality plays, something of which the Greeks were fairly fond. One of these is the theme of marital fidelity. Recall (or perhaps you don't) that the war begins when Paris steals Helen, beautiful bride of the cruel, arrogant King Menelaeus and takes her back home. After the war is over Penelope waits dutifully in Ithaca as Desmond Odysseus faces barriers placed in his path by vengeful Poseidon.
