Well, I found out the hard way that vBulletin doesn't allow more than 51 images in a single post, so if you're lookin' for my highly newbish to not-too-shabby-at-all efforts from 2007, you've come to the right place!

I joined Lost-TV in December 2006. Bein' a huge ABBA fan, I chose the following design for my av, which was used as the backdrop for ABBA's 1979 North American and European tour, and later as the logo for Polar, ABBA's record label in Sweden (it's also the design featured on the cover of the ABBA DVD In Concert). Here it is, after some work using Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/MyAvatar01_100x100.jpg
However, I really wanted a av that more or less reflected my screen name. Since my screen name is a combination of "Lost" and the term used to refer to a practitioner of the world's oldest profession, I decided a red light would be appropriate. But I didn't have any way to animate it until i found the right (read: free, and easy to use) software, unFREEz (http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/). When I felt comfortable enough with my skills, I made my first red lantern in February 2007:

Bitten by the animation bug, I decided to make some more avs, and decided to use a different av each day from March 1 through March 17. And with St. Patrick's Day approaching, I thought I'd first change the red lantern to a green lantern:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/aa_MyLantern01.gif
Green lantern? Hmm...
Now, since Green Lantern (the Hal Jordan version) was one of my fave superheroes from my childhood, I downloaded a few of pics and made animated avs out of most of 'em:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_Battery_Glow.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_HalsRing_001.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_AlexRoss.gif
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_RingFire_02.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/SpaceGlow2.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_RingFire_01.gif
And yes, I cheated...I used the same pic twice:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_Ring_Glow.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_Ring_Fire.gif
I also made one each of Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern from the 1940s, and John Stewart, the GL featured in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoons:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GLAlan_01.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_JS_Waistup.gif
Along the way, I did these glowing green lights...
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GreenPendant_Glow.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GreenPorchLight.gif
...and also managed to make some avs based on more traditional St. Paddy's Day designs...
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/Shamrock2.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/Gold_001.gif http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/PotOfGold_002.gif
...including this non-animated av:

Going back to the Green Lantern motif, I used this one for March 17th, based on the original inspiration, Green Lantern's, um...green lantern:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/GL_HalsBattery02.gif
Then, on March 18th, it was back to the red lantern motif:

After downloading more advanced (and free) animation software (Beneton Movie GIF (http://software.benetonfilms.com/Beneton_Movie_GIF/)), I made this version of the red lantern, which I used as my primary av from late spring to early fall 2007:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/aaaaaNewAv_GIF_07.gif
Signed up to play Fancy Monkey's Lost-TV Survivor II (http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37654) game during summer 2007. Liz was the captain of my team, The Dharma Initiative, and designed this very nice-lookin' av (http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/aaaaaLTVSII-Dharma_Av.jpg) as part of the game's first challenge. Later in the game, FM allowed us to drop our buffs, but I decided to apply my own touch to the pic Liz had used, and displayed this for a few weeks:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/Av_Karl_Room23.gif
For Hallowe'en 2007, I decided my av should reflect that holiday, but dressin' it up with a witch's hat, or as a ghost, or even as a bat or anything else, proved to be impractical. I wanted to keep the flashing beam of light motif as well. So, fanboy that I am, I changed the lantern to the Batsignal in early October:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/aaaBatSignal_Halloween_UseTHIS.gif
In mid-October 2007, I got myself involved in Truffula's Dharma/Hanso vs. Mittelos Bioscience game, so the Batsignal became the DharmaSignal:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/DharmaSignal_better.gif
During the Lost hiatus, I started watching Heroes, and got hooked. One of the things I noticed was a round window in Mohinder Suresh's apartment (http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/Heroes_MohindarsApt_GLWindow.jpg) in Brooklyn, New York, which looked suspiciously like Green Lantern's emblem. So now, I've made this av, which ties together my fandom for Green Lantern and Heroes, yet still features the red lantern motif:
http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w289/Danno001/MyStuff/NewAv3.gif
Christmastime...which means it's time for a Christmas av (keeping the elements of my Heroes-inspired av intact as well):
