Charlie is now on to Shannon's manipulating ways after last night's episode. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and will stay away from her.

IMHO Charlie was being kind to Claire and trying to help her but was not hitting on her in any way. I would like to see Charlie get together with someone on the island but perhaps it will be an extra who later becomes a member of the regular cast....someone who has been overlooked so far. Charlie has his own demons to address which we will see later in the episode entitled "The Moth".

I knew a lot of ppl will convert from the Shannon/Charlie shipping after last night. I just think Charlie/Claire will make a better and more interesting couple than the predictable druggie-rockstar-and-spoilt-daddy's-girl routine.

For one, it would be interesting to see C/C dynamics before and after the baby. How they deal with the addiction.
I will be on the edge of the seat when watching Charlie getting irritated with a very pregnant Claire as apposed to any other pairing (if that need be the case). I would be concerned about Claire and we can all use some regular drama once in between the spiritual walkabouts and decoding random-flashbacks...dontchathink?

WARNING: What follows is a fricking BOOK. Don't bother reading unless you want to know in excruciating detail why Claire and Charlie should hook up. LOL!


I can DEFINITELY see Charlie/Claire as a couple (*le coughie* As if my sigline and avatar didn't give that away... :lol ) I already talked about this a bit in the 'Shippers Poll on the General Discussion board, but I think Charlie would really benefit from having someone like Claire in his life. He's obviously been through the ringer in his life, and it's left him with very low self-esteem -- hence the drug use and self-promotion. Besides the fact he's a rockstar, I think a lot of his flirtation is really just a cry for attention; he wants people to recognize him and say, "Man, I LOVE your band!" or something to that effect. Claire has proven that she's a very thoughtful, good-hearted person, as evidenced by her desire to hold the memorial service in "Walkabout." I think she'd give him the attention and security he needs, while at the same time helping him build self-confidence so that he DOESN'T need those things so badly in the future. I really think she could help balance him and get him off this dangerous road of self-destruction he's currently following.

So what does Claire get out of the deal? I hate to use cutesy metaphors, but I think Charlie would be like a wounded puppy Claire helped nurse back to health -- he'd be utterly devoted to her. She's about to become a single mother on a deserted island, with absolutely no family or friends to fall back on for help. Having Charlie there to help her and give her the emotional support she needs would be wonderful.

Then there's the dramatic elements a relationship like this could have. It's been mentioned, but I'd love to see how Claire handles knowledge of Charlie's addiction; what kind of stressors would that put on a young relationship? Especially when she has a baby to think about.

Then there's Charlie's wounded sense of self-worth. You all saw the hurt look on his face when Shannon walked away with "their" fish in Walkabout, as if he weren't even there. The boy's got SERIOUS problems, with himself and the world around him, and they're going to take a long time to work out. He could be a whole show in and of himself! And a story like that is always more interesting when it's shared between two people. Honestly, which episodes of Angel or Buffy were more interesting: the ones where the protagonists suffered in silence, or the ones where their friends suffered with them? There's a reason "hurt/comfort" is a popular keyword in the world of fanfic. ;)

And let's not forget humor! Dom's such a great comic talent -- I could see him milking the "clueless guy has to babysit" story for all it's worth, and making us love every second. And then there'd have to be an episode where the lovers are trying to be intimate, and the baby keeps crying; or people keep stumbling across them; or the camp's attacked by enormous killer bats. There could be REAL humor value packed into this relationship!

Charlie/Shannon? I can see a one-night stand, but I honestly think they're both too broken internally for it to be a healthy, long-standing relationship. I don't know what Shannon's personal baggage is, but I have a feeling she's more than just a spoiled little rich girl. They'd be perfect poison to each other.

Charlie/Kate? Cute, but I think Kate's already got enough of a love triangle going on with Jack and Sawyer (and who wouldn't want to be caught up in THAT pyramid, huh?). Throwing Charlie into the mix would make it more of a love rhombus, and that's just too confusing.

So yes -- Charlie/Claire. My LostHet couple of choice. *bow* I'll shut up now, and return you to your regularly scheduled banter. :lol

*giggle!* Actually, no. Not yet, at least. It takes an AWFUL lot for me to get into a particular slash pairing, especially when there are so many plausible het pairings in a program (Charlie/Claire, Jack/Kate, Kate/Sawyer, Michael/Sun, etc). But heaven knows there are enough lovely guys on this island that I wouldn't be surprised if, somewhere down the line, I end up changing that answer. LOL! And I have to admit, Sawyer/Jack is AWFULLY tempting... :)

I absolutely adore Claire--I think she's fantastic. And Dom is the reason I watched the show (at first anyway *g*) so I would find it magnificant if they got together a bit. But I think he's being incredibly sweet. And like, how last night he told her that she doesn't scare him--made my heart jump. He was too sweet for words!

You know what I think would be a wonderful dynamic to explore with these two? The concept of FAMILY, as played out on a deserted island where survival is always in question. Mommy, daddy, and baby make three. The other characters are all individually looking to survive, and there will always be those characters who pair off into couples (and some who already are), and close friendships will naturally form for the others. But I would really, REALLY like to see that kind of close knit, nuclear family bond, and how it's shaped and structured by such harsh conditions. How do you RAISE a child in that situation? What the hell do you use for DIAPERS? LOL! There's a big difference between how a single person would act when stranded on an island, how a couple would act, and how a family with children would act. This would be an EXCELLENT opportunity to explore that!

The idea of Claire having to raise the baby alone is improbable -- the group of survivors is so small, it's bound to act more like a large, extended family than a group of strangers. Especially after Jack's motivational speech in "White Rabbit." But wouldn't it just be incredibly sweet to see Charlie slot himself into the "daddy" role, even if only in token fashion, and then slowly get more and more involved, until he finally spends a night in Claire's tent and ends up staying forever.

*happy swoon* I think I'd have a heart attack and DIE. LOL!

Of course, Charlie's such an angst-ridden individual, it would lead to all kinds of juicy storylines for the two/three. *rubbing hands together in fiendish glee* Ooh, I can't wait to REALLY get into the C&C angst in my fanfic. I won't REALLY have gotten there until I kill one or the other of them off (and I'm bound to do it eventually; in my Roswell fic, I think I killed Michael and/or Maria an average of once every three fics or so. LOL!). But with these two, the story possibilities are literally endless. *happy sigh*

At first I didn't really think there was going to be a romance for Charlie... I was expecting him to get rejected by all the women on the island, which would totally mess up his already fragile self-esteem. But after last night, I really think they're going with Charlie and Claire. They were absolutely adorable together. While Charlie has flirted with all three of the main women, I think he was most "himself" with Claire. He wasn't trying to put on an act; to be funny or cool or macho. He was just being Charlie. I can't wait to see where this possible relationship might be leading.

I really hope they do go somewhere with the Charlie/Claire storyline... It works because, they're pretty much the outcasts... she's the only one who actually talks to Charlie on purpose, and he's "the only one who looks her in the eye."
