It's summer, and this is the perfect time to travel or go on vacation somewhere. Here's a thread where you can discuss your recent travels, pick up tips for upcoming trips, fine tune plans for your own vacation, or just show off where you've been and where people should go.
Discuss!

I'll be working. :sigh:
Every August I head up to Maine!
I get really antsy about it each spring and I can't stop thinking about lobster and gorgeous beaches!

:( You gotta take a vacation sometime.
The last trip I took was also the first one I did out of the country. I was in Hong Kong for five days and four nights in May, and it was lovely. Adore the place so much, I'm already planning to go back in October. :D I'll share pictures.
I'm taking a small trip to a coffee farm in the middle of the week, so I'll post pictures of that as well. ;)
And, like I said, I'm planning to return to Hong Kong (for four days and three nights) towards the end of October, then I'm going to Kuala Lumpur (also for four days and three nights) immediately after that. I'm doing the backpacking/budget travel thing, so budget airlines and hostels will be the norm for me. :)
We're headed to Sebago Lake, ME - we've never been there, but it looks great!
I will be working...and going to school School is kinda like a vacation for me :D I know, I know...I am a geek.

I got back from an Alaskan cruise almost two weeks ago. We cruised Anchorage to Vancouver, stopping in Sitka, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. Twelve in my family went, ages 9 to 82. It was a spectacular time. The most awesome scenery I have ever had the pleasure to view. We saw whales, bears, sea otters, eagles. Had a fun time and great food on the ship. I've already posted these pics in the hiking thread and thirteen dashes - but seems like it's probably okay to repost here too.

Very cool stranded, looks like you had a lovely time!
We already had our major vacation for the year, my wife and I went to Ft Myers Beach, FL. I highly recomment it to anyone wanting to go to florida...

We are taking another week off in August to go to Massachusetts for the annual Richard Family Picnic... but that vacation will be pretty low key.

I would love to go somewhere cold for a change, but I'll stick to warm weather for now. My friends and I are planning to go hitch-hiking across Europe in a couple of years, so that's gonna be... interesting. ;)
Visiting the cold is enough. It seriously makes me cry. Really!
Beautiful pictures, StrandedinIowa! And you're just a little slip of a thing!
Just watch. My next job will be somewhere like Yellowknife. Ouch.
Pray for me.

Well, I don't know about Europe, but Europeans do go backpacking around the world. I saw quite a few in Hong Kong, and I'll be doing the same later this year.
Backpacking essentially means budget travel, and quite frankly, it's all I can afford!
