New Season 3 Villains Logo and Promo Description

The new Heroes Season 3: Villains promo aired tonight during America's Got Talent revealing the new official logo for Volume 3.

Below is the logo and a little description of the promo.

NOTE: As soon as the video is available we will post it. If someone has the video already please let us know.

http://bp1.blogger.com/_n3eH1jI8AZ8/SGs-xNHwNkI/AAAAAAAAFfs/xa-NYNF1bnk/s320/villains-logo.gif (http://bp1.blogger.com/_n3eH1jI8AZ8/SGs-xNHwNkI/AAAAAAAAFfs/xa-NYNF1bnk/s1600-h/villains-logo.gif)

- HRG explains to Claire about him capturing Villains before she was born and that a "Dozen" have escaped. That they will hunt, terrorize and kill, that they will cause unimaginable destruction to the world. As he explains this to Claire you see quick flashes of the following:
- Cell Block 5 (Most likely under Primatech)
- See new villain Knox in restraints in cell
- Peter holding Nathan shortly after he was shot
- Mohinder washing his face and confused
- Claire gets spooked by a rumble
- Quick flash of a woman's eye opening (maybe Angela)
- Matt looks lost in the middle of the dessertSpoilerTV (http://spoilertv-heroes.blogspot.com/2008/07/new-season-3-villans-logo-and-promo.html)

:hyper: I can't wait for this to show up on the internet. I stopped watching America's Got Talent because it bores me anymore, but aargh . . . I wish I would have been watching last night! Still, that new logo is just plane awesome!!! :D

Here's some new stuff that surfaced within the past day or so.

Q&A Reveals Spoilers for Season 3 and Missing Moments from Season 2

The fellas over at CBR usually have a weekly Q&A session called "Behind the Eclipse" with Heroes writers/producers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite while the season airs, but they were lucky enough to sit down with them this week.

The first batch of answers from the writers provided us with some interesting tidbits confirming that we will start the season moments before Nathan gets shot. However, the moment before Nathan gets shot we will see 4 years into the future. So it seems those set pics of Future Peter and Claire were legit.

They also provide us with several details about the missing Season 2 episodes that were lost because of the strike.

Since it is a pretty long Q&A, here is a little summary i put together with some additional information:

- Episode 3x01 will start but moments before Nathan is shot, but we will be four years in the future.

- Isaac's Sketchbook will appear again this season. Pay attention to episodes 9-11.

- We will meet another artist that has a similar style as Isaac with a "familiar subject".

- Since Adam is immortal and has similar blodd traits as Claire it is possible for her to become immortal as well, but the same rules may not apply to Peter.

- Alternate ending for Season 2 was to have the virus unleashed on Odessa, TX and have the Heores deal with the fallout and the sity being quarantined.

- DVD will most likely have some additional scenes and storyboards of the first few episodes that were going to be part of Volume 3 (Part 2 of Season 2).

- They will try to get us some unreleased pages of Season 2 Episodes 12-14

- In regards to Peter and revisiting his darkside: “With great power comes great responsibility.” “But we also know that “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” So basically Peter will find himself torn between these two platitudes.

- Bob has files on the Patrelli boys and Matt also and we might see them.

- Claude is alive

- Episode 3x03, a character with Earthquake power needed to be re-written because it would take too long to shoot for a TV show.

- We will see Arthur Patrelli before Episode 3x08 via Flashback

- A flashback for the founders of The Company was scheduled for Episode 2x05 titles "1977" (yes last season) to focus on Angela and Arthur, but because of the strike did not happen and it is now up in the air.

- We will learn more about the Haitian this season

- Claire's mom will return this season.

Given what HRG said in the promo, I'm guessing this is what S3 will be about. If that's the case, I wonder if the webisodes that are coming out will be about these "villains" getting captured. If so, we'll know about the new bad guys before the show starts. Very cool.

Got some (kinda) new spoilers here from UK's DigitalSpy:

- Nathan Petrelli is apparently dead. We see him rushed to hospital, where resuscitation attempts fail. "There was nothing we could do," a doctor tells the family. I don't believe it.

- Looks like Elle (Kristen Bell) is going to be spending a bit of time sparring with Sylar this season.

- Angela Petrelli introduces us to "Level 5", a housing place for the most dangerous criminals in the world - rapists, arsonists, killers. Presumably this is where the band of Villains escape from.

- Matt Parkman is alone in the middle of a desert screaming for help.
New Villain 'The Speedster' steals something from Hiro and quips, "Gotta run."

- Is Sylar in league with Angela Petrelli? In one short clip he is seen approaching her from behind and placing his hands on her shoulders.
Linderman is back with a prophecy of doom. "The second coming is at hand," he warns.

- And, perhaps the most shocking tease of all: a big bald man, incarcerated in Level 5, shouts: "I'm not who you think I am. I'm Peter Petrelli..."

Yeah, Doc, that's what I'm thinking. He has the same scar he had in "six Years Gone from S1, so it begs the question, how could he have that scar? He met claire, so he can heal. In this alternate timeline, he must not have saved claire or met her at all, so how is she alive?

Maybe someone will go into the future and met evil peter and see how horrible the future is and then need to change it....oh wait....yeah.

Here's the first press release (http://nbcumv.com/entertainment/program_detail.nbc/heroes.html) for the season released by NBC.

With his abilities returned to him, serial killer Sylar (Zachary Quinto) relentlessly continues to accumulate other people's abilities, which leads him to the Bennet house. Bound to a secret company with a keen interest in people like his daughter, "H.R.G.," a.k.a. Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), finds new purpose when his most dangerous, fantastic foes break out of custody and must be dragged back. Reeling from recent events and revelations, Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere), an indestructible high school cheerleader, struggles to define her identity and place in the world.

An act of heroism unveils an amazing secret about Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), a Las Vegas single mother with astonishing strength -- and an unknown, hidden family. In Japan, Yamagato Industries heir Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) continues to use his ability to pierce the space-time continuum and manipulate time to leap into wild, international adventures with his best friend, Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee).

Nathan Petrelli's (Adrian Pasdar) attempted assassination leads several Heroes on a stunning spiritual quest to explain his power of flight. For his younger brother, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia), the future and present collide as his many absorbed powers lead him to discover that the only way to end the catastrophic moment facing the world is to do the unimaginable. Meanwhile, their ruthless mother Angela (Cristine Rose) and her associates continue their ongoing, complex machinations to change the world from the shadows.

Former LAPD officer Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) is taught new ways to use his expanding ability to hear and manipulate other's thoughts by an unlikely guide. Dr. Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), a genetics professor from India, takes a dangerous step into darkness as his research into those with extraordinary abilities living among us continues. Far from her Dominican Republic home, Maya Herrera (Dania Ramirez), who causes death when filled with fear or anger, begs Suresh to cure her – only to watch helplessly as he embraces his darker side.

Here's a confusing article that just come out.

'Heroes': On set and counting down 03:17 PM PT, Aug 11 2008

We walked onto the smoke-filled set of what was once Claire Bennett's and HRG's home. Things had changed. There were kids' toys around, childlike drawings ... and the Bennetts no longer occupied the space. Someone else that we know does live there ... and Claire's not happy about it.

That's about all we want to say. A visit into a near-future
storyline comes with all kinds of "Do not say thises" and "Can't say thats" along with the "No camera or video allowed" disclaimers, but it's exciting nonetheless.

The feeling on the set was one of fun and business. The occasional "rubber gun on set!" yelled out, knowing glances among cast and crew mates, a Watchman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen) comic-book compilation being read backstage ... all seemed old hat to this bunch.

The actors are surprisingly engaged and helpful when planning out fight scenes and bridging dialogue gaps that may help it along. And the producers and directors are surprisingly OK with letting them run with it. And, yes, I did say fight scene -- one which, oddly enough, led to a reference for the Vin Diesel movie "The Chronicles of Riddick." (http://www.thechroniclesofriddick.com/) Watch it, figure it out -- I know you can.

On set were main players Hayden Panettiere (http://topics.latimes.com/entertainment/people/hayden-panettiere), Milo Ventimiglia (http://topics.latimes.com/entertainment/people/milo-ventimiglia), Brea Grant, Jamie Hector and Zachary Quinto (http://topics.latimes.com/entertainment/people/zachary-quinto). We were given a little time to speak to a couple of the actors. Brea Grant, who had a short but memorable stint on "Friday Night Lights," and Zachary Quinto, the coolness that is Sylar and Spock.

A little ball of Texas fun, Brea Grant said that it was "kind of daunting" joining the "Heroes' cast but prepared herself for her super-speed role well, being the "nerd" that she is.

"I read a bunch of Flash comics, and now I have about this many (spreads her arms about three feet apart). I tried to watch the Flash TV series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa9b7ZQ3Zkw), but it was really bad."

As a bad-girl character, Brea admits that she's done a little research in that part as well, long before the role came calling.

"I will admit that I probably stole something as a teen ... but I don't know, I'm kind of a goodie-goodie. I did shave my head once ... but I asked my dad."

She does enjoy the powers that she has in the show and wishes she had them off the set.

"If I had it [super speed] in real life ... it'd be amazing. My room would always be clean. I'd never run out of cereal..."

But if she had a less spectacular ability?

"I need poise. I'm just so clumsy that it would kind of save me a lot."

Someone who rarely needs saving is Sylar. Our talk with Z. Quinto was brief, and though he was currently in his "softer side" of Syler mode, which definitely had something to do with his cute, race car pajama-wearing co-star that was on set, he gave us a little insight into this season's monster (though he's not telling who his baby's mama is).

"The great thing about my character this year is that he's all over the map in terms of his internal conflict. The sort of orders that he's given by certain people who have power over him this season and the situations that that puts him in really, really force him to employ a kind of restraint that you haven't seen him necessarily need to employ."

Before rushing back to the set, he also spoke briefly about the show returning and the some of the behind-the-scenes emotions.

"It feels like it's emerging into itself. ... I think that the time that we had away from the show made us that much more grateful to come back and that much more excited to come back 'cause it's been so long since we've been on the air."

Yes, it has. Anyone who was at Comic-Con (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2008/07/comic-con-heroe.html) and saw the first half of the first episode probably knows that this should be a comeback (so to speak) season. And, though adding characters and storylines has been a hot topic, the recent Seth Green-Breckin Meyers casting announcement (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/08/heroes-in-talks.html) could also be something to look forward to.
-- Jevon Phillips

Source (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/08/heroes-on-set-a.html)

So . . . . it would seem from that way that it's written that Sylar has a kid in the future? Weird. I'm sorry, but as much as I love Sy, he's a bit too sociopathic to have any offspring of his own. What's more is I've heard rumors that Maya is the mother of the kid. . . . . . . . :weeping: :weeping: :weeping: :weeping::weeping: :weeping: :weeping: No no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *is not happy* I mean, Dania is cool and all, but I can't stand Maya - Sy should have never had Mohinder save her last season.

ETA: Okay, so I've had a day to think about it and cool down. I still don't like it, but I'm hoping that some sort of funky time travel is involved and Maya is not in the picture - that we have yet to meet the momma.

ETA: Here's a new interview (http://comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=17706) with Zach about Sylar in Villains from Comic Book Resources.com :D

"Heroes" - On Set With Sylar

Is it possible that one of television’s most sinister villains is going soft? You would think so from listening to Zachary Quinto -- who plays the evil Sylar on NBC’s (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/) “Heroes” -- talk about what fans can expect from his character in the forthcoming season, entitled “Villains,” which begins October 6.

“There’s a softer side to my character in this episode,” said Quinto.

The episode to which the actor is referring is the fourth of the popular show’s third season, and will feature another glimpse into a possible future for the expansive cast of characters.

CBR News recently visited the set of the hit show and spoke to Quinto about his character, the series, and a few interesting surprises that fans can look for.

“This is an alternative sort of reality,” explained Quinto of the episode he was shooting. “As our show does and has done in the past, you catch glimpses of time that may or may not actually come to fruition but are possibilities. Episode nineteen of Season One was called ‘Five Years Gone,’ and that whole episode was based on that premise. This episode has elements of that and my character is involved in those elements.”

Quinto, who was dressed very “un-Sylar,” wearing Khakis and a button-down shirt, had his hands covered in paint for the scene. “There is a little bit of painting that happens in this scene as well,” he said. “Because I am put in a position to prove something to myself in this scene and I employ my old stand-by ‘paint the future’ power in order to do that.”

In this episode’s glimpse at a possible future, our favorite villain is living a pretty normal life. Quinto explained, “What was the Bennet house is now inexplicably my house.” He also went on to drop this bombshell, “My son’s name is Noah. Isn’t that interesting?” That’s right -- Sylar has a son in the future and he named him Noah!”

Quinto would not say who his son’s mother is, but when asked if the spawn of Sylar inherited any of his father’s powers, he did have something to share. “My son actually is a gifted child. He’s very subdue and cool both as an actor and a character.”

Although Sylar may be different in the future, it sounds like fans can expect “present day” Sylar to be up to his old tricks. “There’s no softer side there,” joked the actor. “The great thing about my character this year is that he’s all over the map. In terms of his internal conflicts, the orders that he is given by certain people that have power over him this season and the situations that puts him in, it really forces him to employ a kind of restraint that you haven’t seen him necessarily need to employ before.”

Of the new season, “Villains,” Quinto said, “It’s the most fun I’ve had on the show so far. That’s hard to say actually because the first season was amazing and last year was really exciting too, but it feels like it’s emerging unto itself.”

“Heroes” employs a hectic shooting schedule that involves filming scenes from several episodes at the same time. “Right now I’m doing [episodes] two, four, eight and nine,” stated Quinto. When asked if shooting simultaneous episodes of a show known for jumping around its timeline is difficult, the actor was hopeful. “So far so good, but we’ll see.”

Finally, Quinto shared his feelings on returning to the show after last year’s writers strike cut the second season short. “I think that the time we had away from the show really made all of us that much more grateful to come back and that much more excited,” he said. “It’s been so long since we’ve been on the air. All of us are just really a hundred percent committed to what we’re making this year. The response that we got at Comic-Con was so exciting and so enthusiastic that we’re really excited to carry that into the rest of the season with us.”

“Heroes Volume Three: Villains” will begin attacking viewers September 22 on NBC.

I love how Zach puts my mind to ease, but woah - a baby named after Noah. Freaky. I'm glad that all of the futures in this show are alternate reality based - it doesn't set anything in stone. (Although it would be nice to hear that TPTB have an overall direction for Heroes and that they are not just making it up as they go along.)

I can't help but laugh because in the midst of people cheering, I saw a bunch of people who were just sitting there with a blank stare. Also, the epic-ness of how they did "if you stopped watching last season . . . ." made me laugh. :D

Milo recently talked to TV Guide and gave up a few gems of spoilers:

Latest Scan of TV Guide with Milo Ventimiglia

Hey All,
TV Guide had an article with featured Heroes Star Milo Ventimiglia on his USO Trip to the Middle East to visit with troops.

In the article he discusses his experiences, but also reveals some interesting tidbits about Season 3.

Ventimiglia, confirms a character the fans have heard of but not seen yet will be the reason why the Heroes lose their powers this season. This person is most likely Peter's own father Arthur Petrelli, which also in line with previous spoilers. He also did mention a couple of other tidbits about Ando and Sylar.

Here is the scan and details.

Thanks to Watching Heroes (http://www.watchingheroes.com/milo-ventimiglias-uso-trip-featured-in-tv-guide/)

Milo turns cryptic when he shares that a major male character close to everyone, whom viewers have heard of but not yet seen, will be "relieving people of their abilities" in a season when villains become heroes and heroes become villains. (Keep an eye on Hiro’s sidekick, played by James Kyson Lee, who says that his character, Ando, goes "on a personal journey of finding his own wings.") "You may not be so quick to think Sylar should be discarded." Milo hints, "Zach’s character this year is not so straightforward evil. This season we’re all in question."

Here's an article from BuddyTV (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/heroes/tim-kring-and-zachary-quinto-d-22536.aspx?cf=1048576#comments)that was released today with Tim Kring and Zach:

Tim Kring and Zachary Quinto Discuss 'Heroes' Season 3

Talking to Tim Kring is as difficult as task as any TV fan could face. The creator of Heroes (http://www.buddytv.com/Heroes.aspx) thrives in answering questions as vaguely as possible, so when Kring and Heroes star Zachary Quinto (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/heroes/profile/zachary-quinto.aspx) addressed questions on a conference call today, finding out specific details about Heroes season 3 was the hardest part.

However, Kring did reveal a few general ideas about how the next year of Heroes will play out, and Quinto spoke about the similarities between Sylar and Spock, who he will be playing in the new Star Trek (http://www.buddytv.com/star-trek.aspx) film.

Kring did reveal that the structure of season 3 will be that volume 3, “Villains,” will last for 13 episodes, while the second half of the season will feature a 12-episode volume 4. In a slight acknowledgment to the problem of Maya and Alejandro, Kring said that all new characters introduced this season will immediately be a part of an established character's storyline.

Sylar will play a major role in the new volume, and the creator and star both spoke about what's to come. Quinto said that in a flashback episode, fans will see more of Gabriel Gray, the pre-Sylar watchmaker. This goes along with what director Allan Arkush mentioned in BuddyTV's exclusive on-set video interview about a season 3 (http://www.buddytv.com/articles/heroes/exclusive_video_interview_with-22411.aspx) episode going back to before the events of the pilot. Kring added that Sylar will evolve and his life will become complicated by his interactions with others. “He'll have a series of very human relationships in this season.”

Kring also addressed several unanswered Heroes questions, which may or may not excite fans. Regarding Caitlin, the Irish lass Peter befriended and accidentally left in the future, Kring admitted that we were supposed to find out what happened to her in the third episode back last season, but due to the writers' strike, Kring flippantly said that we may never get to find out her fate.

Another big question is what power Kaito Nakamura had, and the fact that a deleted scene on the Heroes season 2 DVD revealed he has the ability to see all the variables of a situation and predict an inevitable outcome, such as analyzing the stock market to earn money. Kring said they intentionally revealed this on the DVD for hardcore fans, though he set no time table for when people who only watch the show on TV might get to learn of Kaito's power.

Quinto was asked about his upcoming role as Spock in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and the actor revealed that he sees several similar traits when playing the logical Vulcan and the sociopath villain. “There are elements of the characters that echo each other, but from opposite ends of the spectrum,” Quinto said. He added that they both have “a stillness and a rich internal point of view that informs the way they behave.”

Heroes returns for season 3 September 22 with a three-hour event that starts at 8pm with a countdown special to remind fans what has happened, followed by the first two episodes of the new volume.YAY!! More Gabe!!!! :p:wub:

ETA: Here is a different version of the same type of information from above on UGO (http://tvblog.ugo.com/index.php/tvblog/more/tim_kring_and_zachary_quinto_talk_heroes_season_3_ sylar_and_spock/). :D

Quinto said that in a flashback episode, fans will see more of Gabriel Gray, the pre-Sylar watchmaker.
This will be when we meet Arthur Petrelli for the first time, but we won't know its him (well, we who read spoilers will know :p). He will be Sylar's father. Thus making Sylar and Peter and Nathan all brothers as the rumored spoiler that I wish I hadn't read said.

I'm still callin a "Dad?" moment just like on LOST where we'll know Robert Forester is "Mr. Gray" but when we see him in the present, likely with LINDERMAN and NATHAN and Nathan says "Dad?" revealing that he is Arthur Petrelli as well....and then BLAM - End of Episode.

Here is a slight tidbit of news from WatchingHeroes.com (http://www.watchingheroes.com/santiago-cabrera-would-love-to-return-to-heroes/)

Santiago Cabrera Would Love to Return to ‘Heroes’

In a recent interview with Digital Spy (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/a128996/cabrera-keen-on-heroes-return.html), Santiago Cabrera, who played painter Isaac Mendez in Season 1, has revealed that he would love for his character to return in Heroes.

He is optimistic that the writers could find a way to bring his character back. "You know, with Heroes, there’s always the chance of going back on," Cabrera said. "You never know. They’re doing the third season now, but anything can happen on that show, so I might come back."

Cabrera said he visited the set to see his old friends while they were filming for Season 3. "It was surreal to go back and see everyone again. Issac’s loft is still there, so when they were filming there it was strange. It felt like I’d never left."

Something tells me that we may see Isaac in the flashback episode. XD

Seth Green Confirms ‘Heroes’ Gig

EW.com caught up with Seth Green at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. While he wouldn’t give away too much about his upcoming Heroes gig, citing a “Keep our Secrets” clause, he did confirm that he and buddy Breckin Meyer are starting to work on the show this week. “We’re starting on set Monday. That’s what this whole beard is for.”

Green and Meyer are set to be playing (http://www.watchingheroes.com/seth-green-and-breckin-meyer-joining-heroes-cast/) a couple of comic book geeks (go figure) from Athens, Georgia who will interact with several of our Heroes.
Green, who is nominated for an Emmy for the Cartoon Network show Robot Chicken, admits he would’ve done just about anything to get the Heroes job. “I’m a really big fan of the show,” he says, “and I kind of begged for a long time to see if there was anything I could do.”

ETA: Here's some new stuff that appeared tonight.

William Katt Discusses His ‘Heroes’ Role

As previously reported, William Katt will be guest starring on Heroes in the second half of the season premiere. The Greatest American Hero star will play a reporter who delves into Tracy Strauss, finding her look-alike Niki Sanders.

As it turns out, Katt got the part because of his previous work with director Greg Beeman. Beeman directed him in the film Problem Child 3. It was Greg who invited him to be a part of Heroes this season.

HeroSite’s Craig Byrne had a chance to speak with Katt recently and here is a little of what he had to say:

"I don’t watch a lot of TV, and I don’t watch a lot of the science fiction genre in television, because I find it’s not done well, when I saw the pilot of Heroes, and the first couple episodes, I thought I had struck gold, because as an audience, it was just everything that science fiction genre should be. It was well done; it was a feature film. It was dark; it was intricate. It was filmed like a feature film. The actors were complicated and interesting, and it was funny and dramatic; it was just fantastic," Katt says.

You can find the complete article at HeroSite.net (http://www.herosite.net/williamkatt.htm).

I just got this link from one of my Sarmy contacts, Sheindie, about HeroSite.Net. I just checked it out and they have episode titles (http://www.herosite.net/herositespoilers.htm) and a compilation of spoilers for what seems to be the whole of the Villains arc - episodes 1-13. I noticed in a preview. Sylar was getting out of the passenger seat in a car, and HRG was sitting in the drivers seat. Almost like they were working together. So I wonder if they have to use Sylar to help them round up the escaped bad guys? Perhaps they cut him some kind of deal.

NBC's 'Heroes' delves into villains
Updated 1d 12h ago |

By Bill Keveney (http://www.usatoday.com/community/tags/reporter.aspx?id=59), USA TODAY

LOS ANGELES — On Level 5, all hellions are breaking loose.
Heroes' villains, possessing extraordinary powers to rival the NBC drama's namesakes, are scurrying from cells in a concrete bunker, about to wreak havoc on society in a scene from Monday's two-hour, third-season premiere (9 ET/PT).

IN PHOTOS: Check out a rogue's gallery of villains from 'Heroes' (http://www.usatoday.com/life/gallery/2008/l080917_heroes/flash.htm?gid=703&aid=3374)

As the escape scene indicates, the appropriately titled "Volume 3: Villains" moves immediately into action, answering a complaint that the hit series meandered in its second season.

"We built this volume around the idea of hitting the ground with a tremendous amount of pace and adrenaline," creator Tim Kring says.

"In the first night, we've leaned on a lot of things the show, I think, does very well. One is the action theme. Another is the idea of (being) scary, doing our version of a horror film. We wanted to let the audience know this is going to be a roller-coaster ride."

Fans shouldn't worry that new characters will pull the show away from the heroes who made it a phenomenon in its first season. All will be part of an umbrella story that will feature "some very unexpected pairings" of heroes who had had little to do with each other, Kring says.

NBC is putting a big promotional push behind Heroes, its most-watched entertainment show, but one that has been off the air nine months due to the writers' strike. The relaunch includes a red-carpet premiere party to be featured on a one-hour Heroes special preceding Monday's opener. (In shortened Season 2, Heroes averaged 13.1 million viewers, down 12% from its first year, though the drop was smaller among advertiser-coveted young adults. It had the fourth-highest rate of time-shifted viewing of any scripted show.)

The premiere picks up right after last season's attempted assassination of highflier Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). As "Villains" opens, the re-empowered Sylar (Zachary Quinto) visits the Bennet home, hoping to collect Claire's (Hayden Panettiere) regenerative ability, and he stumbles on details of Level 5.

If that isn't enough, time-traveling Peter (Milo Ventimiglia), Nathan's younger brother, returns from the future to try to change the present, hoping to prevent the Earth's destruction.

The new season also will see tension emerging in the friendship of Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) and Ando Masahashi (James Kyson Lee). The drama still has its sense of humor, however, as exemplified by Hiro's attempt to undo an end-of-the-world formula he has let fall into the hands of a super-speedy thief, Daphne Millbrook (Brea Grant). His pursuit is "like Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner," Oka says.

In the mystery category, a woman named Tracy Strauss — a ringer for Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), who seemingly perished in last season's finale — appears.

Hidden family connections and conflicts will be exposed. Good vs. evil will be reflected in "a war of the Petrellis," says Cristine Rose, whose character, Nathan and Peter's ruthless mother, Angela, will have her power revealed in the premiere. "There's a revelation about her that you wouldn't dream to be true."

Any lingering matters from Season 2 will be resolved by the second week's episode, Kring says. And 90% of the questions raised in "Villains" will be answered during the 13-episode volume, which will be followed by a 12-episode Volume 4.

Complex characters
The internal battle between good and evil will challenge the heroes. Some may take wrong turns, thinking they're doing good when they aren't.

"There is the implication that some of our heroes can be villains and the implication that some of who we know to be villains might have some heroism in them as well," says Jack Coleman, who plays Noah Bennet (aka H.R.G. for the horn-rimmed glasses he wears), an on-again/off-again operative for The Company, a shadowy organization that operates Level 5.

The evil, unrelenting Sylar must make choices. "He finds himself in some unique positions. He's forced to employ qualities of restraint he's never been forced to employ before," says Quinto.

Peter, who has a special connection to one of the villains, will struggle with his identity. "Peter is not quite himself. His journey gets held up when he finds himself stuck in unfamiliar territory," Ventimiglia says.

And Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), the genetics professor studying the extraordinary people, faces the temptation of becoming a hero after he cracks the power formula. "I think it's great they're allowing the darker side of Mohinder, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde spin, to be explored," Ramamurthy says. "There are consequences to Mohinder's actions."

At Heroes' Hollywood set, sparks fly in the aftermath of a confrontation involving the head-scalping Sylar and the electrified Elle (Kristen Bell) in the Level 5 cellblock. "You can't open up a woman made of lightning and not expect something bad to happen," co-executive producer Jeph Loeb says.

H.R.G., imprisoned with the others on Level 5, is intent on recapturing the villains, some of whom he had caught previously. "H.R.G. knows a lot and knows these people. There's a certain amount of responsibility he feels to return them to their incarceration status," Coleman says.

Heroes also will feature two characters thought to be dead: Malcolm McDowell returns as Mr. Linderman, the ominous company mastermind, and Robert Forster arrives as the Petrelli patriarch. Seth Green and Breckin Meyer also will appear.

More than time separates Season 3 from the first two, Kring and his cast say. With barely a writing break between the first two seasons, the strike afforded time to breathe and readjust.

Bell says the writers gave Elle "a lot more depth and deeper connections" after the character had served partly as comic relief last season.

Maya Herrera (Dania Ramirez), an arrival in the second season who some thought was too separated from the others, is with Mohinder now, and her presence provides the key to the extraordinary powers — along with a dose of passion. Maya is "definitely a lot more integrated this season. She has become part of the bigger picture," Ramirez says.

Return to roots
Cast members acknowledge fan complaints about the second season, which started with a long piece involving Hiro in feudal Japan and the introduction of new heroes. "A bold choice that the audience didn't react to in the way we wanted them to," Oka says. "A perceived aimlessness," as Quinto puts it, adding: "It is very difficult to keep up with something that is so successful so quickly."

"Villains" will have a faster opening, more attention to the original heroes and a cutback in the kind of separated story strands that some critics said slowed the show.

The cast is pleased with the new volume. "We're going back to Season 1 and the roots of what made Heroes great: fast-paced storytelling and original characters," Oka says.

"The first season was about the discovery of new powers and the choices we make. Now that we know we have this power, what do we do? It is the more difficult choices we have to make that defines our character," he says.

Ramamurthy felt Season 2 started to take off in later episodes, a feeling shared by some fans and critics, but momentum was then derailed by the strike. If the capacity crowd that cheered the full cast and the third-season premiere screening at July's Comic-Con in San Diego provides any indication, the fan base eagerly anticipates the new season.

Ramamurthy echoes that excitement. "The villains bring a little bit darker feel to the show. Everyone's stakes are so much higher," he says. "There's so much happening this season."

So Doyle is like The PuppetMaster (an old Fantastic Four villain). Cool. :D

We've seen (kinda) The German in action already this summer as part of the "Evs Dropper" storyline of HEROES: EVOLUTIONS. There were even a couple pics showing him using his power, that, when I saw, I remember saying "holy crap I can't WAIT to see this guy on the show!!" not even knowing he actually WOULD end up on the show as a L5 villain. Just AWESOME. :blinkie:

Tim Kring recently had an interview with TheStar.Com (http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/Television/article/501884). Here's a rundown of what was said:

1) "The truth is, it’s all about family, and at the core of this particular volume we’re exploring the nature of dysfunction among family." Both the Bennets and the Petreliis will be "tested and tugged" in ways that we haven’t seen so far.

2) "Just when you think that you have figured out [Sylar's] role for the rest of the series, he’ll change again and, you know, we’ll reinvent where that character is."

3) With Suresh getting powers this season, Kring says "somebody needs to be able to play the role of the outsider on this show. I would just sort of say, `Stay tuned’ to see who that is. It will be someone you already know."

*lalala*
not reading anything else...but I came across this already...

1. Good Is Going Evil, and Evil Is Going Good: Our beloved Peter Petrelli, aka Milo Ventimiglia, revealed: "It's not clearly defined in this volume who's bad and who's necessarily good. I think a lot of people who have been perceived to be bad could possibly be good, and I think a lot of people that are good could possibly be bad." Hmm...Why do the names Sylar and Peter pop to mind?
2. Linderman Is Back and Recruiting Villains: Malcolm McDowell (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AiDlu4TVbDD1n4OBzRoGxsOho9EF/SIG=11at1806u/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/31699)'s mysterious and powerful Linderman, who has the power to heal, returns from the dead this season (Nathan is the first to see him). Malcolm told me, "I work with Cristine Rose (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=ArND_5XzRRgvNHXd.xMGS7yho9EF/SIG=11b9fcl3d/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/885768), who plays Angela Petrelli, and I work with Brea Grant, who plays, Daphne, Miss Speedy. She's great; I recruit her. Oh, and I work with Robert Forster (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AgthVate6Cu2gynTDs7PE7qho9EF/SIG=11aab4bo1/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/34152), who is Arthur Petrelli." Wait a minute, in a flashback or a future scene? That's a juicy bit to chomp on!
3. Hiro Has His Mind Wiped: In an upcoming episode, Hiro thinks he's 10, which means Ando has to save the world and babysit at the same time. No dessert until you save the world, little Hiro!
4. Peter and Sylar Will Be Working Together: Milo spilled that there will be unlikely alliances this year as well: "There are moments where Sylar and Peter are surprisingly working together, oddly enough. But these two guys can't deny who they are at their cores. They are yin to yang." I'm also hearing that HRG will be partnering up with someone you would never expect...
5. Alert Child Services: Sylar's Going to Have a Baby! According to sources, the creepiest mother-killer around, Sylar, has a son in the future. Apparently his son is "gifted" in many ways, and his first name is Noah, just like HRG. Quite an interesting namesake, don't you think? Any bets on the baby mama? All I can tell you is that I'm pretty sure she will make a lot of you fans (who may have created a fanpage or two around this possible coupling) very happy.
6. Noah Bennett Is Still a Bad Guy: Don't worry. Even though HRG has been nicer lately, Jack Coleman (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=Au6.up21gQmv2u0H6r7zpaCho9EF/SIG=11b10ifb2/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/279008) assured me, "You'll see plenty of villainy from HRG this year, I can promise you that." Hmmm...Maybe that has something to do with that Sylar alliance I mentioned earlier?
7. Another Eclipse Is Coming: According to James Kyson Lee (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AvKtltDv9Xd9mnkN8wh2PaSho9EF/SIG=11c6f5km1/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/1241491), when the series' iconic eclipse returns, it seems to reverse the power-accelerating effects of the first eclipse. He said, "Hiro's powers aren't working, and neither are many other people's powers. I think we'll see this phenomenon happens around the world and that everyone is affected by it." I spy a falling fly guy!
8. The Speedster Has a Husband and a Child in the Future: Brea Grant's Daphne is a mom in the future. Who's her baby daddy? "Probably with someone you know and love." Pair that with the information that Sylar's son's mother is "alive and silver-tongued" and you've got a second theory on his baby's mama. (Still, my money's on the fan favorite mentioned above.)
9. Maya Changes the World: According to Dania Ramirez (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=AqRxClVmiT1RpAU7HIl3Or2ho9EF/SIG=11c9ndave/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/1210299), "I think you're going to finally understand why Maya was even added to the cast. You'll see how, in Suresh trying to help her, she changes the course of life, for not only him, but also for a lot of other people."
10. The Haitian Has a Family...and Secrets: The fabulous Jimmy-Jean Louis dished, "They're introducing my brother. And it's good for the audience because they get a little bit of information about the Haitian."
Oh! And one last bonus secret, just because I cannot drive home how cool this twist is: There is a shocker in the second hour of Monday's premiere (at least, I'm pretty sure it's still there) regarding Sylar that just might make you scream, cry and spend the rest of the night thinking about how this changes the entire core dynamic of the show.
"Within those two hours, you're gonna find out some serious, serious business about my character," teased Zachary Quinto (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/_ylt=Aq40SSh9_Iut3Aq2vSt3j0Sho9EF/SIG=11bom6id4/**http%3A//tv.yahoo.com/contributor/847104). You also find out definitively whether he eats those brains, but that's not the big shocker...
Sounds pretty good, huh?

SUPER SPOILERS
Here are some of big happenings coming in Season 3 of “Heroes,” according to TV Guide, my viewing of the season’s first episode and interviews with series creator Tim Kring.

Angela’s hubbie, Arthur (Robert Forster), turns up. Apparently he didn’t commit suicide.

Mind reading Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) discovers who shot Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar) and is banished to the African desert, where he meets a guide, Usutu (Ntare Mwine), who can paint the future.

A political reporter (William Katt) will learn about Tracy’s secret past when he stumbles onto the Web site lasvegasniki.com.

Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman), currently imprisoned by the Company, plays hostage negotiator when the escaped prisoners rob a bank.

After Sylar takes part of her brain, Claire enlists her birth mom, the fire-shooting Meredith (Jessalyn Gilsig) to teach her to fight.

A little bit of info on Knox was just released:

Jaime Hector recently revealed some more details about Knox's origins and powers during a set interview with NBC.

In this past week's episode we learned that Knox can use people's fear to gain strength.

Well here is a little summary and the small clip of the interview.

Enjoy.

1) Knox learned about his powers when he was young and a part of a gang. He was about to get killed and the fear from everyone made him bend a crowbar.
2) He can "sense, feel, smell" someone next to him is afraid and then use that to gain strength.

Here's an interview that TV Guide did with Kristen bell:

Heroes Scoop: Elle Bishop Returns — with an Agenda

Kristen Bell (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/kristen-bell/160946) may have appeared on just one episode of Heroes (http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/heroes/281246) so far this season, but it wasn't the last we'll be seeing of Elle Bishop — nor the last of her confrontations with Sylar.
In her significant, single appearance, Elle managed to take down the show's big baddie. "I felt really good!," Bell said of her character's bold move. She spoke with TVGuide.com at Hollywood Life Magazine's 5th annual Hollywood Style Awards on Sunday, where she was presenting her own stylist, Nicole Chavez, with an award.
Yet, the actress is even more excited about the intrigue and revelations to come. "I have a lot more interaction with him [Sylar], which is great for me, because Zach Quinto (http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/zachary-quinto/191120) is a very dear friend," she said. "This year's storyline for me was so exciting, because they did a lot of flashbacks, and they interwove my storyline previously with other characters, so I realized that I'm a more important character than I anticipated."
This new importance will also hinge on the jobless, fatherless Elle's new agenda: Avenging her father. Asked if she'll be back with a mission, Bell grinned: "Absolutely!"
Should Elle seek revenge for her father's death? How will her return affect Mama Petrelli's Company coup? Do you think she'll be able to take Sylar down again — this time, for good?
Adam Bryant contributed additional reporting.

And in episode 12, Sylar will gain a new power, which helps him learn whether Angela really tried to drown Baby Gabriel. Next spring's "Fugitives" chapter will reveal more about Sylar's past, and his struggles. Meanwhile, Sylar won't sacrifice himself to stop Arthur. We'll find out what happened to Molly in the Season three DVD deleted scenes. And the Haitian will be the key to stopping Arthur — which makes sense, since he already stopped Arthur once. [Heroes Spoilers (http://spoilertv-heroes.blogspot.com/2008/11/full-summary-of-behind-eclipse-6.html)]

The "Fugitives" arc is roaring ahead — the show is already casting episode 18 of the season. And it sounds like we're going to meet a family of dark haired, brown-eyed caucasian people: a sinister father in his 30s or 40s, a mother in her late 20s or 30s trying to protect her son, and a boy aged three or four. A Petrelli flashback to when Nathan was little? Or some new characters?

We'll also meet a computer worker in his 30s, who's responsible for monitoring classified information. And a male FBI agent who's taking part in a classified military operation. And finally a reporter who's reporting on a huge story from the field. [SpoilerTV (http://spoilertv-heroes.blogspot.com/2008/11/episode-318-casting-call.html)]

And Jack Coleman says episode 17, "Cold Wars," will be a huge turning point for HRG, along the lines of "Company Man" or "Cautionary Tales." There's a kidnapping and "mental interrogation," and it's a psychological thriller. "If you miss it, you will be hunted down and... rehabilitated," Coleman says. I don't know if this should be considered Villains or Fugitives news, but The ODI posted (http://heroesspoilers-odi.blogspot.com/2008/12/kristen-bell-not-returning-but-someone.html) some interesting speculation based from a semi-spoiler by Ausiello. (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/12/ask-ausiello--1.html)

Kristen Bell Not Returning but Someone Else Is!?

Hey All,
As debates and speculation continue on the forums about Kristen Bell's character Elle, we have posted previous spoilers about someone dying and coming back via a coverup.

Well today EW's Ausiello (http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/12/ask-ausiello--1.html) confirmed that Kristen Bell is not retuning but that someone else is.

No hints at who how or why, just that someone is returning!!

Who could this person be!? Could it possibly be about the rumored return of Claude?? Could it be as simple as someone like Molly, Micah or Monica!?

What do you all think??
It would rock like woah if we could get Claude back . . . even Adam, Isaac , or Eden in flashback form (only - no ghosts and no teleporting).

I'm still not convinced that Arthur is dead.

3) Peter and Nathan will square-off against one another
4) Sylar will have Claire, HRG, Meredith and Angela captive inside The Company
5) Sylar and Claire will face-off and one of Claire's parents will die (Seems like it will be Meredith based on other rumors)

For Fugitives:
6) Janice will appear again and Matt will realize the Heroes are not the only ones in danger, but the people in their lives are as well.
7) We will not see much of the future Heroes and Kring says time-travel has become a "crutch" so it will be avoided
8) We might see the origins of The Company and the first time they met in 1977
9) Episode 3x20 will provide us with more details about Ando's past.
10) Mohinder will have an "up-hill battle" to remove his powers.
11) Sylar will search for more details about his past and once he learns about all this he will do more "awful and scary" things.

Fuller Confirms What Changed and What's to Come!!

Here is a great article from Digital Spy that interviewed Heroes Writer Bryan Fuller to find out what happened in Volume 3 and 4 and what we should expect in Volume 5.

This article confirms some of the changes that happened and why we did NOT see more of Samson Gray after he was confirmed for at least two episodes. Also, learn the fates and plans for such characters as Tracy, Angela and HRG.

Enjoy!!

Thanks to EVERYONE that emailed this in.

Is Bryan Fuller the saviour of Heroes? Coming off two seasons of oft-derided storylines and dwindling ratings, the show was handed a lifeline when Fuller's own series - the acclaimed Pushing Daisies - was canceled by ABC, allowing the exec to resume his Heroes writing duties. But how do you turn around such a large ship? We called up Bryan to get an insight into the show's woes.

In the couple years that you were away from Heroes, did you still watch it?
"I had been watching it very regularly. I think that there were always interesting ideas at work in the show, but for me, it became too intricate. As an audience member who watched that show for the characters, it became so specified that all the things that made it great - ordinary people doing extraordinary things - kind of went out the window. Everything about the show became extraordinary - from the viruses, to the formulas, to the catalysts, to the villains - it felt like they were forced to take a shorthand with the characters just to have the real estate to tell convoluted plots. Does that make sense?"

Definitely towards the end of season two and for most of season three, it was quite complicated. How did your return to the show come about?
"They called me before Pushing Daisies was even cancelled. They were like 'Jesse [Alexander] and Jeph [Loeb] are no longer on the show and we really need your help in the writers' room. Would you mind coming by and helping out?' I was like 'Sure!' - I had the back nine [of Daisies] already broken out and ready to go, I was just waiting for the order. So I would literally go over to Heroes at lunches and sit in the writers' room.

"First they sent me the remaining episodes of the Villains arc that I hadn't seen yet so I could catch up. I was like 'oh I don't know if I can do this, I don't recognise the show any more'. It just felt like a completely different show - it didn't feel like a network television show, it felt like it should be on the Sci Fi channel. I didn't have a foothold in to care about my favourite characters. Everyone was so mad, pulling guns and yelling 'you ruined me'. Everyone was bitching a lot. For a second there I was like, 'I gotta get out of this'. I strongly believe that you should not write a show if you wouldn't watch it.

"Then I started reading the Fugitives arc. I thought 'this is interesting, they're back in their real lives', but then it took another tumble down the rabbit hole of getting really dense and characters being angry. The characters' anger at their situations was such a barrier to entry for me, because I don't relate to pissed off people. I have to know there's something in that person that makes me want to root for them and care for them. I thought 'well, if people are angry, let's understand why they're angry so we can sympathise with them.'

"The good thing for me when I came back is that the pendulum was already swinging back the right way and everybody on the writing staff recognised the problems with the show and how far afield it had gotten from where it was. Often that writers' room is like alchemy - you have the person with the crazy ideas, the person with the funny ideas, the person who defends the characters at any cost. When I came back, it was a little bit like coming home from college and realising 'oh, mum and dad don't talk to each other any more, little sis is a cutter and little bro is hooked on meth'. The room was a completely different room. What was a cohesive group had become divided, so it was a matter of someone coming in and saying 'let's work together'."

Was episode 20 your first episode back?
"I came back for episode 19, so we started breaking that. When they were breaking that, Sylar's dad was going to be the ultimate evil, the devil essentially. I was like, 'didn't you guys just do that with Arthur Petrelli?' They agreed, so we took it in a different direction. It helped having fresh eyes in the room. For me, one of the reasons the Villains arc didn't work is because I had no investment in any of the characters as villains. Right from the off, they were twirling their moustaches and frying people at gas stations for no reason whatsoever."

Then in the next episode, you killed off two major characters. Was that your decision?
"Well, we killed one. Just Daphne. Tracy shatters and then you see her blink and the tear goes down the drain. We will see Tracy again. I'm such a sci-fi geek so the tear coming out was totally a shout-out to Zhora from Blade Runner. When I came in, they were planning to kill Tracy off. She was gonna get shot in the back of the head! I was like, 'couldn't we have her go out in a way that is more dynamic, fun and open?' I guess I was trying not to have Ali Larter basically die in the same way she did in the second season - 'I'm a hero!' Then she dies. It felt redundant to have her go out the same way, so I was like 'let's not kill her, let's see how these events change this character and stay with her on the journey as opposed to just cutting it off.'"

You had Swoosie [Kurtz] from Pushing Daisies in for a cameo. It seemed quite brief!
"It was painfully brief, but originally in the pitch for that episode, you didn't see Angela Petrelli at all after she got out of the taxi. One of our NBC execs said he wanted to see what happens to Angela afterwards, so we crafted this whole story about her regrets. Again, Angela had become such an arch cold character, saying things like 'I'm going to feed you my child!' She used to be this sad lady who would steal thoughts and was haunted, but when she's twirling her moustache I kind of had a hard time tracking the emotional arc of that character. So I was like 'let's go back and see a woman with regrets, who is realising she didn't always make the best decisions, and see her try to get her and her sons out of this mess'."

We're very close to the finale now - what sort of an ending is it?
"I'm very excited about the finale of this season. I think it's the best finale the show has had. We were sitting in the room, planning the last couple of episodes, saying we know the mistakes we've made, we don't want to make them again, so how do we tell an effective story given everything we've done in the Fugitives arc? I think we came up with a really good way to pay off the season."

And how does it set up things for next season?
"Last week we had a writers' retreat to talk about season four. It was pleasing that there was so much juice left in the berry, as it were! By the end of this season we've set up a fantastic arc for HRG, for the Petrellis, the Bennets. All of the main characters that are surviving the finale have great ways to propel them into new stories. We'll keep it grounded - now they've gone through the Fugitives arc, they can have their lives back but what do they then do with those lives?"

Given the ratings issues and storyline backlash, how confident are you over the show's longer term future?
"It's so hard to say with viewership patterns and all that Nielsen bull<snip>. Heroes is not a cheap show but it's gotten fiscally more responsible in the episodes we've done recently. Big parts of the conversation for season four are how we do this more cost effectively because right now with networks, they're like 'you've got to pull it in on budget or you're not coming back'. For Heroes, the budgets in the second season and the start of the third season just ballooned and ballooned. It was like 'How much did that episode cost? Are you kidding me?!' On Pushing Daisies we had a locked budget we couldn't go over and it was significantly less than the Heroes budget. So when I heard the Heroes budget was getting cut down to X amount, I was like, 'That is still a lot more than some people have! That's plenty to do the show'. All of those parameters are helping us corral the next season into a much more character-oriented pace. Much like the first season, because that wasn't big and sprawling. It was a lot of characters having chance encounters without blowing the lid off it every week. It's exciting."
