It's time once again to beat the bushes for interest in writing character walkthroughs. If you are writing a walkthrough for a character and would like to continue, please let me know. I am quite sure no one is slower than I am, so if you were working on one and are way behind, please don't even think about being embarrassed. I do have some folks that are interested in writing, but I don't want to step on the toes of any of our established authors.
Let me know by posting in this thread if you are working on a walkthrough for the character in this sub forum. And if you're not, but would like to, let me know her also. If we haven't heard from an original author in say, a week, then whoever is interested may have the honor. ;) This is on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure to stake your claim early.

In the course of putting together a comprehensive theory on the freighties, I've already collected and examined nearly all of Naomi's dialogue from transcripts, so I reckon I could do a walkthrough for her fairly easily. Is there a particular format or style you're shooting for?

Sarge, thank you so much! :goodvibes
Basically, write in the third person, and by episode. clayseason1 also puts the days on the island in hers, which is cool, but not a requirement. I know you'll do a super job on Naomi (and Mikhail, if your time permits).

Do I just make a thread and someone stickies it, or do I send the walkthrough to somebody?
With Naomi, a significant chunk of her story is told in flashback. Can I do a walkthrough chronologically, or am I stuck with ordering it in episode order?
Looks like transcript excerpts are okay?

I've been doing an intro post to the threads, like Hodge did. But you know, I don't really think it's needed. So when you're ready, make the thread, and then I'll sticky it.

This idea has always intrigued me. I say go for it! I think you may revolutionize walkthroughs. ;)

Absolutely yes. And we have most of them now.
Thank you again, I'm really glad you're doing this. :Hugglepounce:
ETA: One thing I remembered. I think all of us who posted walkthroughs "unclicked" the box that says "show your signature." I really think the walkthroughs look more professional without the signatures, so I'm going to ask everyone to follow that.

Imo -- the walkthroughs should be done in episode order.
What would really be neat is to create a separate thread in the character's forum for the chronological order of the flashbacks.
eta: that said -- sometimes, it makes better sense to tell the story in chronological order (for a supporting character) like I did with Paulo. Is that what you mean -- if so then in Naomi's particular case -- I may agree with you.
2nd eta: Let me rephrase -- I think creating the walkthrough chronologically should not be the norm but there are exceptions. Naomi's walkthrough probably would be best as the exception and told that way. The norm however should be in episode order.

There have been a few questions about how the character walkthroughs should be formatted. In order for them to serve their intended purpose as a reference for character actions, we will be maintaining certain standards for all walkthroughs.
1. The walkthroughs should be written in the third person.
2. The walkthroughs should be written by episode, in order of when the episodes aired. For a few of the characters, another format may be appropriate, but we will still need the text to appear under an episode title. Check with me first if you have a question on "your" character(s).
In Naomi's case, chronological order is still okay - but do let us know the episode titles. ;)
3. When posting, please "unclick" the box that says "show your signature." Or be like me, forget to do it, go back and edit in advanced mode and unclick it then. :D The absence of signatures will give the walkthroughs a much more professional look.
If you are new at writing walkthroughs and would to see examples, go to almost any character forum, look at the stickied threads at the top for the walkthrough, and read a few by different people. Our styles are different, but the basic outlines are the same.
You may add pictures and dialog copied from transcripts. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense to rewrite dialog when the transcript would better serve the purpose.
There has been some interest among some of our writers to write the walkthrough "through the eyes of the character." This will not work for the purpose of the walkthrough. However, it is still an intriguing idea, and if anyone would like to do this in addition to or instead of a walkthrough, I'm all for it. It's not high on my list of priorities, but I'm all for the creative process.
Don't hesitate to ask questions, either in a thread, or by PM. And please, be assured that your hard work is appreciated very much. :)

Thanks! If anyone sees anything that needs correcting, please let me know here, or via PM. I hope everyone enjoys it! It was more work than I thought, but I think I covered everything. I tried to keep it as impartial as I could.

It is a good job sgtdraino. I like it. This format would not work with most of the characters, but I think it works well for Naomi.

Thanks guys, my pleasure. I think the format probably wouldn't be best for any of the main characters, but for a lot of supporting characters that only show up every once in a while, and often in flashbacks, I think the format can be handy to follow what's going on. Tom is a good example, for instance. Christian is an even better example.

I don't know that I agree with that sgtdraino.
Since we started doing the walkthroughs, I've had this idea that once we are caught up to create chronological flashback threads for each of the characters. It would be a simple matter of copy and paste from the walkthrough threads --- once we are caught up, that is.
When the walkthrough idea was originally introduced, I thought it was going to be told in chronological order...
...but that was probably wishful thinking on my part, since I desperately want to see the show chopped and re-pieced in chronological order when everything is said and done. :D Talk about a massive project!
