View Full Version : Windows Live Messenger
I downloaded the newest version of MSN IM and I am now trying to install it, but I appear to behaving technical difficulties.
Last night it hung at 99% for almost an hour. So I thought I would give her a whirl today, and almost an hour later, I am still stuck.
Here is what it says:

Any ideas on how to unstick a gal?
Why don't you try installing it again?
If it doesn't let you, maybe uninstall the current one, and try installing the new one again.
I think that would work.
Or, maybe someone else will have a better idea. :)
Thank you!
Ummm, okay, how would I uninstall the current one?
Start>Control Panel>Add Or Remove Programs
Wait for the list of programs to populate.
Click on Windows Live Messenger, then Remove.
Once it uninstalls, try installing the new one again. :)

I had to uninstall MSN messenger as well to get Windows live messenger to work.
MSN used to have MSN messenger, but they had all sorts of security issues. According to what I read, MSN finally gave up on improving "MSN" messenger, and switched their embedded service to Windows Live messenger. I was a MSN internet user, so I had the MSN version on my PC and had tons of problems converting until I got MSN messenger completely out of my system.
Anyhoo... if you continue to have probs.. look and see if you also have MSN messenger installed. Removing it altogether may help with the upload of the Windows Live Messenger service. Even though MSN and Windows Live are both Microsoft... they were actually different messenger services. Making it more confusing is the fact that MSN has done away with theirs and have replaced it with another..one....of..... um..... theirs.. or something.
After getting frustrated, cussing a whole lot, and finally hitting the computer with a sledge hammer, I got it to work!
Thanks for all your help guys! :)
