Does anyone use this free WP? I have a rebuilt computer with hardly any software. No word processor. Is this a good item to use? I really need something for the kids to use for school stuff.

I am not using any open portal type software so I do not know. I am using antiquated, however usable, software. Most of it from when I was teaching at night because I could get the student version just no documentation much cheaper. This is one of the reasons why I buy for Dummies books. lol :D

Anytime! I used it for basic office functions for a while, because the file formats transferred better. Other than that, I can't remember much about it, which probably means it didn't give me any trouble. I would remember trouble. LOL I think it would be fine for basic school stuff though. :D

Open Office works just fine. Word Processors are well understood software that have been around for years. You would be a chump to buy one in this day and age IMHO.

I use Open Office often. It's solid.

I downloaded it and OMG!! There is some much there! It might be more than what we needed but it's a lot better than using Word Pad for school projects which really didn't work good for them!! Thank you all for your help and thoughts!!
