This is the discussion thread for the Ajira Airways website. This airlines was featured in the recent Season 5 promo and looks to play a part in Season 5 of LOST.

Dunno if this is connected to the Dharma ARG, if this is the start of a new ARG, or what... but during the music video for S5, there are a couple of quick flashes for a new airline... Ajira? Here's the screencap:

They're apparently starting flights on Jan 21st (same day S5 starts).

I have no idea what this could turn into, but Ajira sounds like a middle eastern name... and didn't Hans Van Eeghen say he was selling cars in Dubai in his last email to us? Coincidence or not? Thoughts?

EDIT: Ajira is the hindu word for Island.

So . . . . it seems that TPTB have abandoned DWY in favor of something else. Apparently during the most recent Lost promo for Season 5 (the The Fray music video) the logo (http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n284/SelestinaCME118/2009%20Lost%20ARG/ajira2.jpg) for this website flashed quickly. It is going to launch officially on January 21st . . . maybe we'll be getting some webgame/ARG that accompanies the action on the show?

Plus, it looks like Hoodlum has been fired because the host of this website is based in California. :)

ETA: And according to DarkUFO - Ajira means "island" in Hindi.

Just how Ben managed to convince Doc Brown to build in a flux capacitor built in a shoddy casing full of used pinball machine parts, i don't know. Maybe we'll have to wait for season 6 to answer that one.

Ajira Airways may or may not have an official Facebook group tied into it. It was started by "Dan Bronson".

Anyway... once you join the group you'll see they have one event scheduled... the Ajira Airways Madien Flight:

I took a look at the sample boarding pass. Valid destinations were listed by airport abbreviaiton, so I looked them up:

LAX - Los Angeles
HND - Tokyo Haneda International
GLR - Otsego County (Gaylord, Michigan)
GMP - Gimpo International (Korea)
BWU - Sydney Bankstown (Australia)
GUM - Guam International
PEK - Capital International Airport (Peking)

I wonder about the GLR - what's up with Michigan?

So that "book flight now" thing that turns up an "all flights booked" message no matter what you put in should totally be a gateway to goodies in the future.
It very well might have goodies hidden now, but I just don't have the time to dig around like I used to.

But I fathom we'll be lookin for "promotional codes" hidden in all kinds of places (like in a Sprite ad or something :nanabobo:).

Or not. :p We shall see. That's just my prediction for now. ;)

Well, it seems that the people over at DarkUFO did the origami (http://lostoctagonglobalrecruiting.blogspot.com/2008/12/ajira-origami-instructions-screencaps.html) and got Guam as the center. :)

Also, looking at the Boarding Pass, the glyphs from the hatch countdown timer are on it and the Dharma wheel trigrams. ^.^

Okay, one more thing. There's no way the times and temps that rotate around are even remotely accurate. Yeah yeah yeah, they're mostly LOST-related locations, but those numbers are deliberate since they're obviously false.

And so are the numbers used in the flight numbers and times based on which start and end point you choose in the "book flight" thingy.

Folks, there could TOTALLY be all kinds of goodies in here.

And this smells like stuff they made us do in the DARK KNIGHT ARG.

The GUAM thing totally fits cause of the orgami thing. They're gonna feed us the locations but it won't be easy. In fact it could get downright borderline impossible. Those of you who followed the DARK KNIGHT ARG will remember the "Joker Glyphs" and how much of a pain in the ass that was.

This should be a lot of fun. :) I really hope I can keep up. :p

Thought about this too. I thought that the number of adults would be either 6 (5 + Ben) or even 7 (5 + Ben + dead Locke)... and then 1 child (Aaron)... there are many possibilities left though. Do we chose "Destintation Destiny" or "One way"? "Round trip" does not match well, right?

One thing bugs me though: that image in the commercial, it shows someone at the bagage claim. Meaning that Flight 316 actually arrived where it was supposed to land... I'm confused!

Also, it's wierd that they use the airport codes for cities which are not mentionned in "Book a flight" but which countries are. For instance: never heard of Gimpo (GMP on the boarding pass) but it is in Korea and Seoul is in "Book a Flight". Are these differences relevant? Who knows!

Eth is a sound used mainly in Island and Vietnam

when you put the date in, make sure you use the calendar to do it. Putting it in manually, makes it not work. also you have to click on the seats 36 times to get a seat so don't give up once you get there like so many people did. I just tried to make sure it still works and it does. Just check and double check to make sure you got it all right. Just like this . Considering we're just a couple weeks away from the premiere and TPTB tend to like their ARG's to not coincide with the season, I'd say we're just getting little sneak peeks but nothing like TLE. Which is fine with me... no complaints here!

This game isn't slated to start until Jan 21. My guess would be immediately after the east coast airing of the LOST premiere, we'll get the first round of goodies. Either that or a few hours before.

I don't think this is going to be an ARG where we follow a storyline like TLE and Rachel Blake/Hanso Foundation. I think this will be something where we'll get weekly puzzles to solve and in the end get some goodies pertaining to S5 (and maybe S6).

We rewound and stopped on the image. It said something about, and I am paraphrasing here, system overload or capacity reached or it seemed to me that it was something like that.

It was quick and we weren't able to read the full phrase that was on the computer screen.

Then I dismissed it as part of the promo....didn't initially think about whether or not it could be internet related.

No, unfortunately.

We have Comcast and we didn't DVR it. With Comcast you can rewind the episode as long as you don't change the channel.

So we re-wound it twice and tried to stop on it.

Both times we were not able to stop exactly on it so that you could read all 3 (?) words that appeared in green on the computer monitor.

We gave up...changed channels to watch something else....and so now we are out of luck.

The DARK KNIGHT ARG is hands down the fiercest ARG I have ever been a part of, so that's my measuring stick now. I saw the glyphs too and I thought they not only looked like the glyphs from the countdown timer, but also the ones in the frozen donkey wheel room.

The only thing that came to mind is that the people who are behind Ajira are the ones who built the frozen donkey wheel AND the ones behind that 4-toed statue. I have a feeling we're going to meet a race of very old (or possibly age-less) people that are behind this whole she-bang.

Let the speculation begin!! Just a couple days away from Opening Night.

So finally Ajira has made a bonafide appearance in the show upon a water bottle. And Juliet states they are based out of India. Were any of Ajira's boarding pass destinations even in India?

In the "Island Adventures part, it mentions something about teaching your kids origami to make "time fly" and that you never know what you might find hiding.. and to use your boarding pass. HMMM. Now, I wish I had a printer because I am just curious what they could be hiding. It is probably something stupid, but I think someone has to do it and report back.

It truly is amazing the steps that ABC takes for this show. They know their audience well enough to know that someone would immediately google Ajira Airlines so they set up a fake website for it. I wonder how long the site has been up. I know there was mention of Ajira in that online game (or something like that), but I wonder about when the site was launched.

As far as I remember there was some origami thing you had to do with your boarding pass to get part of the code we had to input to get to some cool thing (can't remember)... search through this thread and you'll see plenty of posts on it.

In an earlier video I believe we saw that same chauffeur holding a sign that said "John 3:16" this is the same Bible quote that was embedded in hexidecimal code on the website when it first launched. I couldn't see if his sign said something different this time... good catch though!

I just saw the title of tonight's episode, and I think this game may start to make more sense after we see how tonight's eppy "316" plays out.

Remember, we had to choose "Flight 316" on the Ajira website, and many have suspected that was somehow gonna be connected to how the O6 get back to the Island. So it looks like we might get a nugget tonight.

Or maybe the website will update or something.
