This probably has already been discussed, but does anyone think that Locke is the central figure a la Unabomber and that he knows everyone because he shipped them all boxes (probably of heads of dead people, hah!).

Actually, the unabombers brother and sister-in-law are from my hometown and she was my philosophy professor.

How can you possibly think this has been discussed before. Do you actually think there's a chance this could be true? Locke, sending all the survivors heads of dead people.

My god!

That's an interesting take on things but it appears that Hurley is actually the owner of or has a controlling share of a box company and there is a strong consensus that it may in fact be the same box company Locke works at. (Ep 18 'Numbers')

There has already been a number of things shown that link certain characters to others. So if Locke's was a pivotal linking point it wouldn't be the only linking issue and more to the point it would link both Locke -and- Hurley to the others.

Examples:
Episode 12 'Whatever the Case May Be' - Boone is at the police station in Australia trying to get the cops to investigate Shannon's new squeeze. Sawyer is clearly present in the background protesting his detainment.

Episode 16 'Outlaws' - Sawyer and Jack's dad in the bar. Its not a direct link but it does make a connection between the two.

Episode 17 'In Translation' - Jin goes to 'warn' the official. The man's daughter is watching TV and thats definitely Hurley on the news.

Episode 18 'Numbers' - The box company links Locke and Hurley. You could also make a case for the link to exist between Rousseau and Hurley in terms of the numbers and the radio transmission.

I do agree that Locke is responsible for 'linking' now that folks are on the island. He has worked to facilitate those connections in vague and subtle ways. I don't believe, however, that this was something that it pre-dated the plane crash.

In terms of speculation of future 'links'
Perhaps Sun's dad is involved with facilitating Sawyer's trip to Australia to do away with Mr. Hot Dog Vendor guy. (Outlaws)

The woman that Jack is trying to save, and his father inadvertently killed, in 'All the Best Cowboys' turns out to be in someway related to another one of the people trapped on the island.

MAJOR STRETCH - Lets say Locke was originally in the armed forces of some kind. Perhaps he served in the Gulf War and lost the use of his legs there. Perhaps by an opposing unit that Sayid was in.

I'd be stunned if any of the above happened but then I suppose I'd be more surprised if Locke was some sort of unabomber.

Interesting idea though.

My reaction is close to Hodgepodge's.

jcrew, there are indeed several threads on connections between the survivors, and several more on Locke's role as a central/pivotal/key (play on words) figure - until you develop this as a workable theory with some backing, please post within existing threads.
