There's no question that Locke is, uh, different. Ok, he's creepy, but that doesn't mean he's evil. Look at what he's done so far:

He befriended a kid who has had, "a rough month". In the space of weeks Walt's Mom has died, he was taken from his home to go with a Dad he neither knows nor trusts and winds up in a plane crash that results in more blood, gore and dead bodies then a horror movie and which results in his being stranded on a desert island. Everything Locke said to Walt in their first conversation seemed, to me anyway, to be perfect to put at ease a kid that age who had been through that much.

Locke not only puts an effort into finding Walt's dog, but then allows the boy's Dad to take credit for it so the Dad can make a good impression on a son who obviously isn't that impressed with him so far.

Even the orange scene. That was the creepiest scene I've watched on television in a long while, maybe ever, but do we really know what Locke's intentions were? If he's a bad guy why would he draw attention to himself from Katie by doing something weird? Think about the effect of what he did had on Kate; she's crying and hurting because basically, while she had good reason and intentions, she's stealing a dead man's shoes. Then she looks up sees Locke watching her and he pulls his little orange stunt. Now Locke doesn't strike me as stupid enough to think that, under those conditions she'd think this was funny, but it was weird enough that, if I remember correctly, it took Katie's mind off of what she was doing and broke the depressed mood she was in. And that sort of sadness, under the conditions they were in, could possibly spiral down into a more serious depression.

I do think Locke know more about what's going on then the others do, but I'm not so sure that mean's he's a bad guy anymore.
