that Locke is named John Locke? or is that just a complete coincidence or red herring? i mean...it strikes me as odd that Locke, clearly the most philosophical thinker on the island, shares a name with one of the most famous philosophers of the past 1000 years. here's another thought: John Locke wrote and theorized about the mind, understanding, comprehension, etc...one of the things he said was that we cannot create simple ideas, we can only form them from experience. hmm...walt reads the comic with the polar bear, the polar bear shows up. charlie wants his guitar, moments later he finds it, thanks to locke. these "ideas" are seemingly being created by the experiences that the characters are reflecting upon. this goes with the theory floating around that the island manifests whatever they think of, fear, desire, etc.

additionally, locke is the only one who seems to have an understanding of the island...and he's the one who has experienced the most in the depths of the island. just very curious to me, this whole John Locke thing...

i dunno, maybe i'm way off here...
