Not sure is anyone can help with this. But I got a different computer today and before I unplugged the old one I e-mailed a Briefcase from my desktop to my Yahoo addy so I could e-mail it back to my regular addy when I got hooked up today. Well, when I tried to open the attachment, it said that "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail."
Huh? I dont know why it was unsafe but is there any way to get it back? I looked in the help index for OE but could find nothing regarding this matter.
When I change machines I export my mailbox and address book to my desktop and mail it to my address. Then when I have the new machine set up I d/l the mail then import the mailbox and address book into the clean copy of OE. Never had a problem. I have never used this briefcase thingie.
After looking at my OE and WIN Help I know why I never used Briefcase. It is more or less used to synchronize between your PC and something else like a laptop. Anyway, your briefcase is probably no longer associated with anything on your new PC. It would be called an orphan file which a file that is stored inside My Briefcase and not linked to any file outside My Briefcase. When you update files, the orphan file is not synchronized with any other file.
Anyway, can you plug in your old PC, export your address book and mailbox to a 2 files on your PC/Desktop then copy them to a CD? This way you could take the CD and put it in your new PC and do the Import function using the files on the CD. You do have to set up an identity on the OE on your new PC unless your son already did that for you. :)
See if this works and post back. :)

Dew, I didn't know about importing and exporting and what it meant. I already took the tower to my brothers, but I may be going to my moms tomorrow. If I am I will be stopping at the old house to do that! If not I will be calling him when he gets home from school, trust me. Thanks and I'll let you know how it works out.
OK this import/export is for Outlook Express. If there is anything else you need be sure to just copy the files to CD and you can then copy them back to your new PC. :)
This is all fixable. I am sure you don't want to trade software problems with me.
BTW for the other stuff, just go to Windows Explorer, find the files you want to take with you and then go File-> Send to and you will see choices. One will be for CD or DVD d:
Choose that it will be copied from HD to CD/DVD.
Some software you cannot just take the folders, you will have to re-install it. You can take all your pictures and stuff like that. :)

It's probably the security setting in your OE. To change it do the following:
Open your OE
On the toolbar at the top chose Tools
Scroll down to Options (Box will open)
Click the Security Tab
Select the following Internet Explorer Security Zone: "Internet zone [Less secure, but more functional]
Click Apply
Click OK
After the settings above have been changed, check the email again. The attachment should be there now.
That is a good solution LOSTForever. :thumbs_up I never think of that because I have all my security settings customized and I have restricted zones. I prefer that higher security.
LL, should this work for you then you will not need to access your old tower. Do a data backup on regular basis too so if you should have a severe crash and need to start from scratch, you will have all your stuff saved.

tools/maintenance/store folder will show you where your emails are so you can just copy those files and drop them on the new computer in the same place

Somewhat off topic, but I recomment Mozilla's Thunderbird for e-mail. Free, from the makers of Firefox, and better than OE.
