Locke is so intriguing...and I think the best character on the show so far.
A couple thoughts on Locke from this episode that focused on him...
One possible storyline could be that it will get to the point that Locke will be trapped by the Island/thingy into absolute loyalty for fear of losing the use of his legs. He seems to be pretty motivated now and then especially so when it looked like his legs might go. He said "I have done everything you have asked me to do..." Could it be that the one (Locke) who has helped so many others on the island to have a "fresh" start...is the one slowly sliding into bondage and corruption? Don't get me wrong...I love this guy...I don't want him to do bad...but I am only saying that this could be an option --- that his character will be trapped and conflicted...though wanting to do good for others. Think about it...he doesn't want to lose the use of his legs & the island gives him purpose and power he has never had before - those are big motivations to obey and follow. Also...I find it intriguing that he CONSTANTLY tells people "dont tell me what I can and cannot do"...well he sure does EXACTLY what the island tells him huh? HMmmmm...sure looks conflicted to me...and like he is giving away that life mantra to the island. It sure seems like a path that could be traveled. But we will see.
After seeing this episode...one unsettling thought crept into my mind: if Boone is a red herring...and doesn't actually die (as so many think he will)...if he does'nt die....then who actually will it be if not him?? Whew...now its getting serious....whew.
Anyone make the connection that the car they had Locke driving in (VW Beetle) had the stylistic symbolism of a "mouse"? It looked like a mouse as it entered into the "caged gates of his father's lair." Maybe its a stretch...but since Mouse Trap was so prominent could it only be mere coincidence?
Rock on all!
