Silver, you are referring to the shutter speed of a camera.
The numbers: 1 2 4 8 15 30 60 125 250 500 and 1000 refer to fractions of a second during which the shutter is open when taking the photo. The higher the number, the faster the shutter speed.
For example:
1/1 = 1 second = slowest shutter speed.
1/2 = .5 second
1/4 = .25 second
1/8 = .125 second
1/250 = .04 second
1/500 = .02 second
1/1000 = .001 second, or 1/1000th of a second = fastest shutter speed
The connection with 4 8 15 is evident.
Do you suppose that we extend the shutter speed fractionals to the remaining numbers in the sequence?
16 = 1/16 = 1/16th
23 = 1/23 = 1/23rd
42 = 1/42 = 1/42nd
Might there be other photographic extrapolations? Wide-angle, telephoto, zoom, filters?
Clearly, the concept of perception vs reality is at play in the show.
Interesting notion....
