Episode Description:

Locke takes on the burden to stop the island's increasingly violent shifts through time. Meanwhile, Ben hits a roadblock in his attempt to reunite the Oceanic 6 and bring them back to the island.

First off, let me deal with ROUSSEAU.

- the story of her crew turned out to be true, but we have yet to see her involvement with Ben and the Others (ie the taking of Alex, etc). None of the scenes were anything like I pictured them in my mind since S1. But still, very very awesome. :D

Now onto the official scribbles:

- Numbers broadcast. Score one for Danielle.

- Jin speaks awfully good English now. :nanabobo:

- Brennan seen. Score one for Danielle.

- SMOKIE seen as a HAND again. Just like when it killed Eko. Yung will be pleased. ;)

- Danielle kills Robert just as she said it happened. Bonus points for Danielle. Truff's old theory has been torn to shreds by this point, but there's still......

- The "Sickness" she spoke of. It was NOT the time travel sickness. Something "else". She claims "it" (Smokie) changed them. No. The OTHERS recruited them. How else would Robert know to call it a security system to guard the TEMPLE?......pardon the interruption, but OMG THE TEMPLE!!!!!!!

- Charlotte speaks Korean. Who cares? She seemed estudious enough, why would it be such a shock that she speaks other languages? :p

- And on that note...."do you speak any other languages?" "only Klingon". :D

- Sawyer has the time travel sickness now too. So that's all of em except Daniel now. Who is obviously "special" in some way. Remember how WALT was "special"? I wonder if this has anything to do with that.....

- The Ancient Well.....how did Charlotte know? ANSWER - she was raised on the Island with DHARMA (cue everyone thinking she's Annie).

- RIP Charlotte - cue S1 death music

- HOLY CRAP ITS CHRISTIAN!!!!! Locke was supposed to go, NOT BEN!!! Go to ELOISE HAWKING!!!! "Say hello to my son"!!!! I almost passed out when he said that. Brains were everywhere.

- and as if we didn't know already, Mrs. Eloise Hawking is indeed the mother of Daniel Faraday. YAY for Desmond showing up. Can't wait to see his reaction to Hawking. :D :hyper:

Jin gives Locke his wedding ring to prove to Sun that he's dead. Ben shows the ring to Sun in L.A. to prove he's alive and prevent Sun from popping a cap in his hide. Is it safe to assume that Ben will eventually kill Locke and take the ring? Will Locke yet again listen to Ben when he should not have?

Ok, here are some thoughts/questions/reactions I had...

#1 - Why didn't smokey kill the blond Frenchie? Or did it, and then it "became" him?

#2 - The two dead bodies on the beach... were they the same guy? One looks a big bigger around the middle, but their faces looked the same. Maybe smokey's reincarnation of Danielle's baby-daddy, killed twice (then a third time) by Danielle when he tried to kill her, ie "sickness"?

#3 - In the scene where Locke is explaining to Jin that getting off the island is a one-man job, and his explanation to Jin's "Why?" is "I don't know, it just is," Juliette gives one of her "y'all are idiots" smirky smiles. She knows more than she's saying.

#4 - Charlotte and Dan... weird. Sad. Another time loop with Dan going back to try to stop her from coming back.

#5 - Loved Christian's "Since when did listening to him get you any damned place?!" Seriously true! And I like the twist that JON had to turn the wheel, not Ben. How will that play in later?

#6 - Eloise Hawking doesn't seem too perturbed that all the Losties aren't there. Perhaps she knows that they'll all arrive eventually?

At present, I can only say: Holy freakin shiite. I got 2 pages of hand-written notes from this ep, and that will turn into about 3 typed.

I will say for now: Of all the things I should have seen coming, how did I manage to be surprised at Kate uttering the phrase "I'm coming with you."? HOW did I not see that coming? Too much worrying about her plane to remember that she absolutely must speak that line at least once per season.

Also: NOOOOO! NNNNNNOOOOOOO! Sawyers nose was NOT BLEEDING!

Holy guacamole, did Locke come across bad in that episode or what? Even I felt sorry for the addle-headed boob.

First, when finally questioned about his insane scheme, all he can do is mutter that he "just knows", then Charlotte shrieks "don't bring them back, this place is death" as she keels over, then he gives an empty promise to Jin, and finally he ends up crawling in the dirt with yet another father figure mocking him as he orders the dunce about.

Crawling. Man, the island is a cold-hearted bastard, aint it?

Plus, since Smokie, er... I mean Christian... told him not to trust Ben, why the heck did he ever give him Jin's ring? Did he get sucked back into Ben's orbit when he returned, or did he just, metaphorically speaking, get conned out of another kidney by Ben?

In other action, Kate calling Ben and Jack nuts was a hoot. Of course we know, and look forward to for that matter, that The Triangle From Hell is just taking a breather and that it will come back goofier than ever, but still it was an entertaining scene.

Plus Sayid has swung to Kate's position, which bodes well for my fond hope that the Season I pairing of Kate and Sayid will happen again.

The Danielle stuff was kind of meh. No real ground covered, but a couple of loopy Danielle's stories verified. I guess we have a clearer idea on the sickness, although it still isn't clear if Danielle was off her rocker, or if going down into the Smokie Burrow had side-effects.

Even though I knew it was coming, I was still shocked when I saw Kate's biological father get killed. Poor girl. :(

Charlotte dying surprised me. They kind of took the punch out of her death scenes by having her act as a humongous expositional dialog dump in the process of breathing her last. Plus the guy playing Daniel kinda blew as an actor when it came to blubbering. He should have taken crying lessons from Fox.

Finally... if you're out there Lostaway... for the love of God, don't become a Kate fan. First Claire, now Charlotte. Your fanhood is the kiss of death! :eek:

Locke tells Jin he won't ask Sun to come back.. it wasn't an empty promise.. cuz he never asks her to come back. Ben said so in the epi.. they cleared that up...

Locke gave the ring to Ben, then Ben recruits Sun.. If Ben does it, Locke isn't lieing to Jin...

The numbers are being repeated by Leonard, the crazy guy Hurley meets in the mental hospital. Yup.. and Danielle said she heard them, then after she was alone, without baby, she trekked to the radio tower and changed the signal.. to her signal..

Kates biological father is the guy she killed at her home...

christian is christian.. he speaks on Jacobs behalf... my guess is he is a resurrected soul.. but they aren't apparitions that physical things can go through.. they are solid, and can hold things... like lanterns and babies.

A LOT happens, we get to see how Rousseau's people get killed off, including her husband - Jin is with them and Smokey comes up and kills the other woman in the French group, then drags one of the guys along, they all try to hang onto him, ultimately resulting in his arm getting ripped off and him being pulled down a hole. They go after them, Jin jumps in time to a few weeks (?) later and Danielle has shot two of her guys and then shoots Robert so he won't kill her. She goes after Jin and he jumps again, into Sawyer and company.

I must say, I ws a little disappointed in this episode. I am the type who takes every episode, good and not-so-good, and just goes with it. This episode, though, is making that difficult for me.

The first thing I really noticed that bothered me was Jin and his accent. He just sounded...different. Who knows, maybe I am crazy.

Another thing that bothered me, and I may be wrong about this, was the fact that Danielle saw Smokey. I could have sworn that she said back in the first season that she never had seen it? I know that she knew it was a security system, but she never actually saw what it looked like. Am I mistaken?

One more thing that came as a disappointment was Charlotte's death. Now I know she just joined us during last season, but couldn't they have made that scene a bit more emotional? They did bring back the "Life and Death" theme music in honor of her...for about 2 seconds...then it went to commercial. That just took away any emotion I could have possibly had during this scene.

One thing that I did kind of laugh about was Ben's sudden halt while he was driving and his little outburst. It was totally unexpected, and a tad out of character, I think. I must admit though, I did enjoy it.

One thig I really did like in this episode was a certain line from Christian Shephard. something along the lines of "When has listening to Ben gotten you anywhere worth a damn." Or something like that. Can someone get that exact quote for me? I'm loving that.

Anyway, it wasn't all bad, but not the best. What do you guys think?
