Hid more? Walking? Chalking? I don't know what the shorthand should be, but this is one speculative ship I can see being added to the canon before long. Honestly, who else could be Daniel's dad than this? Ellie and young Charles on the island give birth to Dan, then separate in their conflicting visions for the island's future. Ellie adopts the name Hawking to distance herself from Widmore, and Charles (who knows the location of his ex, and that she is a "private person") funds his son's research as he grows older. Daniel is Penny's brother, and brother-in-law to his "constant," Desmond. It all works too perfectly. Hawking and Widmore, the ultimate love-hate relationship. I love to hate to think of it.

I think Widmore and Hawking are brother & sister. That was my vibe when her told her to shut up, back in the day.

No, no. I think Ms. Hawking is connected to Kelvin, that guy who was in the hatch with Desmond.

Very nice thinking... I do not have a sister, but that is some good thinking right there
Widmore as the nice rich Uncle to Daniel...

Seriously? Offbeat idea, if so.
'Ellie' is definitely the young Eloise Hawking. That said, I got the vibe that Widmore was not her brother or BF, but a rival in the ranks of the Others in 1954.

C.H.E.S.T.N.U.T.S. (http://losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58221) started in Redshirts under the Mrs. Hawking thread last year, and now it has its own thread. You found it, JLP. Since Mrs. H. hasn't been promoted to EMERGING yet, that's where we'll be. (You know, Charles deserves a thread somewhere in here too). :)

Charles (of Daniel): "He's my son, too, Eloise."

I think we may take it as confirmed that the two elegant elders are a ship in good standing.

Doesn't this need to be moved, now?

Tough question. All we know is they had a child together, but we don't know that they were necessarily "together".

The boinking that produced Daniel...was it a romantic coupling or was it Charles dominating his rival, borderline rape? To be honest, I don't think that he knows what romance is. Whatever relationship he had with Penny's mother, it was probably more in the way of a man with a posession and the woman was like a surrogate in his mind for his pent-up lust for Eliose.
Still, by the letter of the rules, I am going to move this thread to Canon Ships.

Richard: Sometimes love is...complicated.
That one sentence says volumes about Charles and Ellie.

Yep. Pretty much about every couple on the Island. Even Rose and Bernard.
I noticed Jack and Kate looked at each other when Richard said that. Can't get anymore complicated than a guy who supposedly loves a woman yet wants to send himself back in time erasing their relationship in the process.
The ulitmate breakup. Wonder if he will use the ole tried and true "it's not you, it's me" line.
