Sorry if I may be posting something that's already been discussed...
Here's why Danielle's story is truly hard to believe:
Put yourself in her shoes. If Sayid is the first person you've seen in 16 years, and he just told you that there are others on the island, wouldn't you be somewhat excited to know that a) there's company for your lonely self and b) they may have a plan to be rescued (did she even ask?). I agree with the general concensus on this board that she's bogus somehow, but we must remember the show is very much about human nature and emotions of each character, and this woman doesn't fit into the mix.
She's crazy, but how crazy is she? Sayid even discovered at the very end of the episode that the "voices" she talked about are in fact real, though that could be nothing more than loud speakers...
So that brings me to my speculation: Sayid will return to that place (possibly with Jack or someone else on the island) and there will be no traces of her.
Believing this could be true, Jack will return to the place where the pilot was tossed into the tree and discover no trace of his body either... I'm beliving more and more that this is staged... and whatever group is staging it is really sick...
