ok, is it just me or does the way claire acted last night not match up with her personality? i don't mean that i think she's in cahoots(sp?) with Ethen and "the others," what i mean is that she all of a sudden warmed up to Charlie AFTER he shot the heck out of Ethen.

i mean, let's be logical, if i were Claire, pregnant, just found out i had been living on an island for a month and forgot it. also just found out from STRANGERS (thats including Charlie however kind he was to her) that i was kidnapped by some psycho living on this island, then found out this psycho killed somebody because of ME (aka Claire), AND have had issues with a guy leaving me in the ditch because he couldn't handle being a father, i sure as heck wouldn't walk up to a guy i just say murder and spew open another guy!!!! i'd be absolutely going nuts, and she wasn't going nuts enough imo.

anyway, yeah, is it just me?

Well, if you'll remember, Claire has seemed to be pretty laid back. Maybe a little too easy going...

I mean, aside from the contractions she had right after the crash, she seemed to take it and its aftermath pretty much in stride.

And with the notable exception of her own episode, her interaction with the other survivors seemed to be good, regardless of whom they were. Witness, Sawyer handing her the wallets he had scavenged (he!) from the fuselage so that she could conduct her Im Memoriam when they cremated the bodies.

As far as her reaction to Charlie after he shot Ethan, we need to keep in mind that Ethan had already killed Scott - and with utter brutality. Kate told Hurley that not only did Scott have a broken neck, but that both arms had been broken and "all the bones in his fingers."

And I have no doubt that Shannon managed to bring Claire up to date on pretty much all that happened when Claire herself was kidnapped - meaning the fact that Ethan hung Charlie from a tree and he almost died.

So here's this guy who almost died once protecting you, who has faced again the guy who almost killed him, and received a pretty horrific threat (when Ethan knocks Jin out, he says to Charlie, "If you don't bring Claire to me, I'll kill one of the others each day, and I'll kill you last"), and who wants to keep you safe no matter the cost.

All things considered, I couldn't fault Charlie for killing Ethan - like Charlie himself told Jack, "there was no way I was going to risk him hurting her." Between that and her diary - in which apparently she's written that she likes him and feels safe with him, etc. - I don't see her attachment to Charlie as all that weird.

NOTE: pretty much all the dialogue I quote is paraphrasing :D so do not take it as gospel, please.

Claire doesn't remember any of the lostaways. She knows from reading her diary that she trusted Charlie and considered him a friend. It makes sense that Charlie would be someone she would try to make a personal contection with as she gets to know these people again.

I also think that even though she doesn't remember anything about the crash and what happened until she came to in the caves, the connection between her and Charlie is still there.

Im totally with Dimples on this one...if I were Claire, Im not sure what I would be thinking of Charlie, I mean he did protect her from Ethan and Claire read up all about him and how she liked him and all, but he kept things from her, and he just shot some dude's brains out. hm...

Dimples- Love your Claire/Charlie IM avatar thingy!!!!

See, the way I see it is that it was too much to happen in one episode/day. If Claire had warmed up to Charlie after maybe ONE MORE episode, instead of like, what? an hour after he shot this dude to death, it would be a little more believeable.

Like the peanut butter scene could've waited till next weeks epi, although I did love that scene.

PS. Thanks C&C! I can't take credit for the avatar, someone at livejournal made it but is graciously letting me use it. I love it too! :)

I think the peanubutter thing kind of killed the point of the amnesia, and it wasn't even mentioned much in the story:\

Hmm.

Well; I think Claire kind of looked at Charlie as the main target she could trust. Quote, 'I wan't to trust you'. Seeing as Ethan tried to kill her, and the others spring to her safety, and Charlie kill for her.. She must've realized they didn't want her dead.. And of course she wouldn't want to be alone on some kind of island like that.. So she thought to stick with the group. And refelcting off of how Charlie was sticking by her side, helping her through her amnesia, etc.. She beleived Charlie was her TRUE friend. And she read it off her diary too; of course.

So she must've just went with what she had, and just go with it. Thinking if she could like him and trust him before, why not then? (or now, or whatever?? lol)

I don't know, just saying what I think.

I think its frustrating that they havent explained claire's abduction enough. It seems like they have just completely forgotten about it. Also her memory loss is a big deal, I think either it was stress related, or maybe from a scientific experiment. Obviously it may have been orchestrated by roussou because at one point she tried to take claire's child.
