So I bought a webcam, and when I moved I lost the installation disc. Now I don't have the drivers on my laptop. The only info. I can find ON the camera is that it looks like the brand is "MEGA", but of course any search I do for "MEGA" and "PC camera" yields about a billion results.

Any help? Is there some way to find/search the manufacturer?

Windows XP SP3

Device Manager may give some clues. Find the unidentified device in the list, and then click "Properties". Using the info on the General and Details tabs, Google might become more useful.

Medion MD 40323 Mega Camera Manager Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP (http://www.driversdown.com/drivers/24054.shtml)

You didn't say what model camera you had so I did a search using Camera Mega Driver. :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks, John. The General tab isn't helpful (just says Manufacturer: Unknown). Under the details tab, which drop-down issue should I choose? Under "Hardware Ids" I find this:

USB\Vid_0ac8&Pid_307b&Rev_0100
USB\Vid_0ac8&Pid_307bI'll try searching those for now...

DAMMIT! SON OF A BITCH!

Sorry.

Turns out the brand is Omega. I thought the "O" was just a logo thing. Grr...

I believe this is your driver right here:

I searched for "Vid_0ac8&Pid_307b"

This is the camera, but I don't see the drivers.

You are not having a good night. Does this help?

Go to that site and in the search box type drivers. It lists a page of them by product. CLick support and everything is by product. The webcam should have this information on the bottom of the camera.

Got it!

Thanks, Dew!

Thanks, John!

So my brother walks in the door just after I post, I tell him exactly what I posted above, he glances over for .5 a second from three feet away, says "Well, first of all, it's an Omega camera, not MEGA." I type Omega webcam in google and find it right away.

This is why he thinks I'm an idiot. :(

Well I clicked the .exe file and the camera still isn't installed correctly after a restart.

Screw it. I don't care.

System restore to a better point in time and grab what you need and back it up. The camera used to work. Correct?
