Hey is Kate driving anyone else absolutely up the wall? Between playing hard to get with Jack and yapping on Sawyer when he comes to tell her about Jack being buried in the caves, she has totaly gone to hell in a handbasket (or hand cuffs hee hee) I hope it's just PMS and she returns to her normal chipper self soon. I liked her at the begining but now I'm not so sure. Any thoughts?

I don't see her playing hard to get with Jack. i think Jack had his chance with her and now she's moving on. Hopefully to Sayid and not to Sawyer!!!

Kate is hardly playing hard to get with Jack. Maybe Sawyer...but certainly not Jack.

What about when she asks Jack if shes "checking her out" and bugging him about his tattoo? Is that not "messing" with Jack? They've only been on the island a week!! If she's already moving on, I'd classify her as a world class slut and I don't think she is one!! I don't think she's had enough time to move on.

LOL at the PMS joke. maybe it is

Im a big Jack fan but he just isn’t her cup of tea.
Ideally she may like someone like Jack but deep down she’s attracted to someone more like herself........(Sawyer)
Jack needs to do the right thing and bow out gracefully.
Besides there are plenty of other woman more deserving of the Good Guy.

I don't think anyone is playing hard to get. They may be interested in each other but come on...this isn't highschool. They're crashed on an island. Every day they're just trying to survive. I think the last thing on anyone's mind is wooing a love interest. :rolleyes

I really dislike Kate. I hate her squinty eyed stare and the same face she makes in every scene. I think right now she is too one dimensional. I wish she would get off her pity pot....:evil

i agree...i wouldnt have in the begining of the show but no as it goes on i would have to say i would agree
I hate her squinty eyed stare and the same face she makes in every scene.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I love Kate's acting!
I.E. the Charlie "death" scene. Not just any actress could pull that scene off - Evangeline acted so irrational during the scene, not exactly crying and sobbing - saying stuff but just mostly "Jack" in a sort of distressed way. It was so intense.
Then on the bank episode where she was pretending to be scared by the thiefs when she was really working with them was brilliant too.

Yeah, i absolutely love those scenes, especially when they found charlie! She couldnt have done it better. The intensity was..wow. I totally felt it.

If you ask me Jack's the bitch. He's constantly trying to make Kate fit what HE wants her to be.
Why is it when a woman refuses to conform to what a man wants or society for that matter, they are automatically labeled a "bitch"? :rolleyes
Each of the characters has secrets and Kate will tell her's when she's damn good and ready. That does NOT make her a bitch. It makes her cautious. I think she really wants to fit in with the rest and once they all know what she did, that might not happen. How can that make her a bitch? :rolleyes

I totally like Kate. She's cool, and Evangeline is playing her beautifully.. Personally I think Kate should hook up with Sawyer. But as Evangeline herself said "Every girl wants a bit of the good boy and a bit of the bad boy, so I say: Why chose?"
I don't think Kate is playing hard to get neither a b****. I think she doesn't know what she really wants yet between Jack and Sawyer. That happens to everyone
Once again it's all about "timing"
It's interesting to see her relationship with Jack and Sawyer in next episodes. Sooner or later she would choose one of them hopefully not both in the same. lol
"Life is a choice, make your own choice..."
I personally don't like Kate...she sorta reminds me of this one friend i used to have... I agree on the timing she uses though not very well!
UUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! I hate her!!!!!
She's so nosey! She has to be involved with everything and everyone.
She always has to be told twice! This is why I've mentioned in more than one spot that if you need Kate to do something.... just slap her in the face so she gets the message through her skull. And we don't have to deal with the look of shock to what you are asking.>: :)

Isn't Kate the most complex character on the show? Jack is good doctor with problems letting go and daddy issues. Sawyer became the man he hated. Locke is a weak-minded, crippled wannabe who was turned into a superman.
Kate's hesitant, confident, sweet, bitchy, manipulative, helpful, big hearted, killer, who killed the man she loved, obsesses over a toy plane, is wanted by the Feds, and is afraid to be either too far from or too close to a man.
She's definitely high maintenance.

Yes Lately Kate has been bothering me a lot. At first I figured that whatever reason she had to be with the Marshall she figured that it was wrong & would start over on the Island, but then she tells Sawyer that if she wants to get on the plane, she will. Well, now he's not all touchy feely or anything but when Michael gets sick, what else is he to think? She did say if she wanted it she would get it. And so he did what he thought he had to do to clear himself so he could go on the raft.
And. after the flashbacks w/ her mother and her killing her friend in the car chase, I was just floored. I no longer felt sorry for her because I doubt that risking her best friend's life (& ultimately her actions took his life) was worth her running away from the police. It seems to me she has a history of running & as of yet, I am not sure what from. On the Island she seems to face things, not sneak around behind people's backs to do things, so I'm confused now as to what type of person she is.

I don't think Jack's a bitch. I think that he's trying to find a group of people that he can trust 100% and bond w/ in case he needs them. And, at first Kate fit this role, DESPITE her being handcuffed to the Marshall on the plane! And now little things are making Jack question if he can trust her and with good reason.

Welcome, BooneDog!
Though really, one wonders - this being a community devoted to a tv show, and you having obviously a life, which obviously no one here does, otherwise you wouldn't need to tell us to get one - why would anyone go to the bother of registering and posting ten words of dismissal?
I would assume you'd have better things to do.

It's a TV show people! Get a freakin' life! But Beto, you are missing the adjective. We're not supposed to just get a life. We are supposed to get a "freakin'" life.
I would have to deduce that by this, he means that he has offended or driven off any of his former freak friends due to his gangrenous breath or the sloshing sounds his sweat soaked lard encased drool encrusted body makes whenever he attempts to move his pathetic and flabby ass out from in front of his X-box.
That, or his old freakin' friends just could no longer tolerate the "games" he would try to make them play with reindeer.
Its kinda touching really, that he wants to make new friends with us. Unless by "freakin'" new friends, he actually means "sculptures I make from the body parts of my freakin' friends."
Then that would just be bad form.

Our poor, poor felonious Kate -- squashed flatter than a pancake. I gotta admit the look Jack first gave her when she asked to go along was pretty hilarious. Man, for Kate to be reduced to having to plead to get Jack's attention is pretty pitiful. Her swiveling her head around looking for Sawyer was even more pathetic.
Did anybody even talk to her in the episode?
LostInWilderness

Kate helped with raft. Kate went on the black rock trek. Kate asked someone where Sawyer was. As you say, she begged Jack to come along.
But wasn't one of the many heartbreaking "scenes" of the night when Kate was looking for Sawyer and then when Sawyer was looking for Kate? Kate and Sawyer saying goodbye was the scene that never was, made all the more poignant by it's omission. I'm still floored. ;)

LostInWilderness says:...Kate and Sawyer saying goodbye was the scene that never was, made all the more poignant by it's omission...LIW, you're 100% right. It was like he couldn't face her after what he'd done. You might classify it as a "Power" scene?

Hodge writes:It was like he couldn't face her after what he'd done. You might classify it as a "Power" scene?
Absolutely. But I'll tell you what, Exodus p. 1 was full of power scenes. When Jack told Michael to give him 5 minutes then all 40 lostaways were working together. All the separation scenes: Walt and Shannon, Jin and Sun, and best was Sawyer and Jack. But the one left a hole in my heart was Kate and Sawyer missing each other.

i hope you meant BEAUT or BEAUTY
tho i know you meant otherwise...
look, the role is a good one. Kate is a dangerous damsel, or a damsel in danger... however way you want to see her, she's still a force in the show.
but, hey, we all have our opinions, and yours is a valid one.

but, hey, we all have our opinions, and yours is a valid one.
See, now, I understand the sentiment to this statement Angel, but honestly, I just don't agree.
All opinions are not valid. Some are wrong. Some actually are invalid. This is just another way of saying your thoughts are just as valid and really, I don't agree with that.
Now, your statement about Kate is accurate, which to me makes it valid. And some things Kate has done, I can see her being called a B**** over it, so there is some validity to that opinion as well. In my opinion, for an opinion to be valid, there should be some fact or facts at its core to support it as long as there are no other facts showing the opinion to be mistaken.

It just proves that the saying, "models can't act" is true. Her storyline is already pretty weak, and having the role played by a vaccuous (sorry about the spelling), lackluster model trying to be an actress just makes it worse. As you can see, I am not a fan of this person. Try not to kill me. :x

Oh, I agree... I can't stand Ana-Lucia. I hate how she bosses Sawyer and the others around. And you know that's just going to cause problems if they meet up with our survivors... No one is going to want to take orders from that b*tch, which will just piss her off more.
And I think Kate will have a HUGE problem with her. They're both strong, independent women and I'm pretty sure they'll clash. I just hope Kate kicks her ass...

Whoah. Way too many Kate haters around here. ILF does not approve. Also can't quite decipher the source of the anger. If your scenario were to play out and the only two strong female lead characters on the show were killed off, how boring do you think this show would become?
40 minutes a week of Charlie bringing fake peanut butter to Claire & Aaron? Good lord. Zzzzzzzz.

Admittedly, a show of cheesy charlie and claire moments would be awful, but do you really think the show wouldn't survive without Kate? There seems to be women coming out of the woodwork at the moment- if the writers couldn't think of interesting charachter development for Claire, Shannon, Sun, Cindy or Libby they could write up a redshirt. And it wouldn't take long- Ana Lucia was a lead within one episode.
I guess I just think they wasted Kate as a character. She had a lot of potential at first, but the writers really haven't done anything great with her considering the time they have poured into her backstory. I am hoping I will change my mind when she gets her next episode, because I really liked her at first.

Kate was supposed to be the lead when Jack was going to die. I think the idea was to incorporate the male/female dynamic with the science/faith conflict with Locke. In that regard, she has taken a secondary role, especially so far this season. I'm looking forward to her returning to 1 of 3 main characters status.
I have mixed feelings about Kate. Sometimes likable, sometimes annoying.
I read that there's a big kiss coming up between Kate and someone, apparently not Sawyer, so probably Jack.

Thanks for the spoiler:rolleyes
I think Kate is really interesting. We still dont' know what she actually did before she went on the run, etc. and became an outlaw. We know that she is good at heart and would give the shirt off her back for someone that she cares about. She is also a good mediator between Sawyer and Jack and also Locke. I think she is a neutral type of person that can go either way at any time which is what makes her intriguing. While we know she has committed a crime, it is obvious that kate isn't inherently evil, or bad, I would even suggest that she is reformed but seeing as I dont know why she was in trouble in the first place I can't really elude to that. I also like how the Jack/Kate as a love interest has not dominated the show even though both are major characters.
Though I'm not liking Ana Lucia mainly because she is pretty much every role that Michele Rodriguez has played in her filims. I guess all shows feel they need a bitchy female character to stir things up. I'm sure Michele can be a good actress, but from what I have seen already and from what I've seen so far on LOST, i am not impressed.
