Well the airplane was in the brief case that the marshall had along with all of his guns.

In whatever the case may be we see kate break into a bank to rob it only to find out all she wanted was that little plane. I knew the fate of her friend would not be good when she said in whatever the case may be "It belonged to the man I killed". I figured it was something that was her fault and sure enough it was. So she left the plane but came back for it in whatever the case may be. In tabula rusa we do not see the marshall taking the plane away from kate but I assume she had it with her from the time she left that bank in whatever the case may be to the time she got caught in tabula rusa.

I saw some people asking about how did the plane get on the island in tonight's lost episode thread so I am just trying to clarify this up.

I will boldly suggest that we haven't seen all that Kate did before finding herself in Australia.

We don't even know - as far as I recall - when the incidents in Born to Run's flashbacks took place. Kate did get that plane at some point - whether she put it in the bank safety deposit box or not, she knew it would be there and she had one of the keys.

Simple timeline:
- flashbacks in Born to Run
- flashbacks in Whatever the Case Might Be
- flashbacks in Tabula Rasa
- Oceanic flight 815

Of course, I'm sure things happened in between that we don't know ... yet.

I'll post this in the episode thread.

Someone put the plane in a safety deposit box and Kate wanted it. Maybe Tom's wife? Or the marshal?

That's a pretty good time line AZ. The time capsule was buried in '89. Sixteen years prior to our flight. But you're right, we don't know when they dug it up. Or, the time of the bank robbery. I think it's safe to assume the Marshal caught up with her around our flight time. But your episode order seems right.

About the plane; we didn't really SEE what was in that safety deposit box, we only assume it was the plane, because that's what was in the green envelope when Jack and Kate opened the case. Maybe Kate got the plane from the backseat of the car and replaced it with whatever was in the envelope before getting caught? Or maybe there was something else in that envelope as well? I mean, ROBBING a bank for the plane alone?!? I guess Tom must have been the only one Kate ever trusted and let herself love, so the plane probably meant a lot to her, but still...

And btw; poor Kate. I guess she's had a pretty rough life, all the way from her childhood. No, wait, not POOR Kate, - she is a fighter! A little short on the luck-factor, though...
