I went with Jeter. He was just all over the place. Great offensive numbers, great defense, superb presence in the Yankee clubhouse, and the little matter of becoming the hittingest guy in the history of pinstripes didn't hurt.

Hmm thought this would be hands down Mauer but as of this posting 2 votes for Jeter?

Not sure how u can vote for Jeter or Tex. 7 guys on that team have at least 20 homers. If u can tell me the Yankees wouldn't be in the playoffs without Jeter then I could understand.

Take Mauer off the Twins and they are not in the post season.

Jeter's numbers were really outstanding this year, and he brought a lot more to the table than just that, as TBC noted. I think he was the best player on the best team, which is sometimes considered a qualification for MVP. Tex had the best power numbers in the league, which is often how guys have qualified in the past.

I have no problem with Mauer winning though. If he does, he certainly deserved it imo.
