http://i48.tinypic.com/345cu8w.jpgNEW YORK -- Stephon Marbury didn't steal the show at the New York Knicks home opener. But he sure provided quite a sideshow.

The former Knicks point guard made good on his promise to show up for his former team's home opener and sit in the front row. But Marbury was asked to leave those seats when ushers examined his ticket and determined he was sitting in the wrong spot.

Rather than relocate, Marbury left the arena just as the first quarter was ending.

Adding to the bizarre scene, Marbury pulled out a video camera shortly after arriving and began shooting the live action, at one point standing up -- thereby blocking the view of the fans behind him -- while play was ongoing.

A Madison Square Garden security official spoke to Marbury during a timeout, and it was then discovered that Marbury was holding a ticket for Row A. But the seat he was occupying -- just a couple chairs down from Spike Lee's regular seat -- was actually in Row AA, and Marbury was asked to move.

After turning down a $1.99 million, one-year offer from the Boston Celtics early in the summer, Marbury remained unsigned through the summer. He recently said he plans to sit out the entire 2009-10 season before making a comeback next season.

Well...he did make it to the game like he promised he would and he did sit in the front row, even if it wasn't in the seat he was supposed to be sitting in. He probably knew he was in the wrong seat and planned to leave if and when he was confronted about it.

What a jackass. As poorly as the Knicks handled the situation with him, he truly made an ass out of himself too. Right now, i'm trying to believe that any further tomfoolery (:D) from him can only make the Knicks look better by comparison. On the other hand, i'm not sure that it doesn't just refresh the entire ugly series of incidents in the memories of the other players and fans.

Marbury is a damn cancer sorry to say.

Wherever he goes he brings unsuccessfulness with him.

He did it to my Suns...glad we got rid of him when we did.

Iverson is the same way. And dare I say it, in football so is Owens. One of the reasons that Tony Romo is having so much better of a season this year is that he is free to spread the ball around to different guys. He hit TEN different recievers last Sunday when the Cowboys beat the Seahawks. He never would have been free to spread the ball around that much, and it kills a defense when you can do that because they can't key on anybody, with a reciever who demands the ball be thrown to him all the time like Owens.
