A Wangdoodle, a Hornswoggler, a Snozzwanger, or a Vermicious Knid?
I know it must be one of them, but which one? I think its one of those rotten Vermicious Knids!
Actually....I've made a breakthrough discovery. Remember how the kid saw the polar bear in the comic book and then shortly after there was a polar bear on the island? Well...I found another comic book reference which reveals the true form of our mystery monster.....survivors prepare to quake in fear....

I've found an exclusive pic of the beast. Here it is in "flight" mode. ;)

They're all terrifying, but that godzilla-like creature in flight mode might be capable of plucking a pilot out of a cockpit.

Actually, there was a Willie Wonka reference (the overdue library book) in the last episode which got me thinking along these lines :lol

Hmmm...I didn't notice a Willy Wonka reference. Maybe the monsters are angry Oompa Loompas?

My bet is that the monster is not at all a fictional or comic book character but, rather, a regular animal (bear, gorilla, etc) which has grown to gigantic proportions due to the odd magnetic properties of the island (e.g., a polar bear and a boar being found in the same climate).
Either that or its a gigantic IRS agent.

Puh-leeeeeze! There would only have been about 20% of the pilot left in the trees.

LOL, true!
I'm beginning to think it's not an animal --- or at least not an animal the way we conceive of "animals."
It didn't sound like any large mammal or reptile to me.
My husband thinks it's a mutated elephant because in the pilot episode, when it's rustling around in the trees, there is this weird, booming horn or sort-of trumpeting sound. But it still didn't sound like a sound that a living creature would make, to me anyway.
Maybe the monsters are huge mechanical devices that somehow obtained a human consciousness or became sentient?
I WANNA KNOW!!!

So what your saying is that an IRS agent is a mutated elephant?
Hmmmmmmm....interesting.

I think it's a highly evolved version of the Rabbit of Caerbannog.
