View Full Version : "Adam and Eve" theory

My theory is that "Adam and Eve" were Fred Noonan and Amelia Earhart. Yes, I know that doesn't fit with the facts as Jack stated them but I can't get the thought out of my head. I'm probably wrong, but there it is.

Jack and Kate?

MaxK: I didn't get a good look at the clothes. Did you see what exactly they were wearing?

S: By "Adam and Eve", I meant the two bodies they found in the caves.
JG: I didn't see the clothes very well. They didn't show the bodies long enough. Earhart and Noonan disappeared in 1937 and that clothing wouldn't look too different from 1940s or 1950s clothing in the state of decay it was in.
Someone pointed out that the bodies and clothing would have decayed more if they were that old, but we don't know how long the two lived on the island before they died...
Of course, I really don't have anything to support my assertion. It's just something that popped into my mind. Perhaps because I used to read a lot about stuff like that when I was a kid.

Well, Jack knew immediately one of them was a woman. Considering he didn't examine the bodies, I would assume it was from the clothing.
It's just a guess and probably researchable (I try not to strain myself doing research - I let others do my work for me - I'm told I'm very bossy), but I imagine Amelia dressed like a man for her flights. It would have been much more comfortable and practical.
Just something to consider, although it certainly warrants looking into because she is one of the most famous "lost" people in history.

No, I have thought from the beginning that JJ might work Earhart into the story, so I thought exactly the same thing as Max when they discovered the bodies. And no, Jack could determine the sex of the body based on the skull alone, although there was doubtless a little more to go on. I don't think we can give a definitive date for the couple, because, yes, they could have lived there some time and the castaways haven't found anything yet that would date them definitively. I would not be surprised if other famous lost explorers might have left something behind as well.
Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan disappeared on July 2nd 1937 in, at least as far as can be determined, approximately the same area as the survivors.
Jack said he believed the clothing had to be at least 50 or 60 years old judging by the level of decomposition and that one of them was female. Amelia Earhart did indeed dress like a man, at least while flying, and was considered a tomboy, even for her time. In fact her unconventional short hair, pants and leather jackets made her an icon.
Their last transmission which put their position about 100 miles from Howland Island was as follows:
"We are in a line position of 157'- 337. Will report on 6210 kilocycles. Wait, listen on 6210 kilocycles. We are running North and South."

I believe Jack's comments to Kate regarding Adam and Eve referred to the Bible's story of the first man and woman on earth starting the human race. Was he inviting her to be his "Eve"? She said she was not interested. Wonder why?

What I want to know is, where/who is the serpent?

I kinda thought that the "adam and eve" talk between Jack and kate illustrated the two opposing positions they will eventually take: he wants to start a community ("be my eve") but she doesn't want to "dig in" ("not interested").

My question is, if it were an adam and eve type couple, why weren't they together? and who put them in the burial chambers? did each of them kill themsleves in their own little room? or did someone put them there?

There better be. I have so many interesting scenarios in my head. If none of them play out, I'm going to be very disappointed and the producers have missed a golden opportunity.

And it has been hinted that we have already seen someone on the island who wasn't on the plane. I hope that wasn't a reference to Jack's hallucination of his father.
