View Full Version : The FUTURE THEORY

In the future people develop time travel. The problem with time travel is that it can interfere with the timeline. But what if they go back and retrieve people who were LOST and never found. The plane that Boone got injured in could be Amelia's Earhart's plane for example. The people on the island have been transported to this remote island and through time. They are being pschologically tested and reabilitated so that they won't be a danger to their new future society. It could be that Boone was considered to be ready to return to society so he was removed from the island. Those that died in the initial plane crash needed no reabilitation and have already been returned to society.

No one is replying to this which probably means it's a bad theory. Why is it so implausible? In Riverworld, they pulled people from all over earth through time, why not in Lost? When I seen that trebuchet break apart upon hitting the glass of that hatch, I knew there had to be a sci-fi aspect to it. I believe that in the future they decided to go back and save all the people who got lost in the past. The hatch maybe an entrance to the control center for the island.

You mean sort of like John Varley's book (and movie) "Millennium?" I'm pretty sure it was Varley.

Yes, the Varley novel is another example. At the beginning of the Lost series, there was a lady sitting by herself on the beach that was keeping to herself and not talking to anyone. Jack went up to her and then she said that the others were still alive on the other side (correct me if I'm wrong, maybe she was only referring to her husband). I think that no one had died in the crash. Those that needed no reabilitation were allowed to rejoin society.

That was Rose and I think no one is responding because time travel has been discussed before.

Shame, this is somewhat a copy of another thread. shame on you newbie.

However, it has no ground really, go look at joepas.. Tying together pinnermans and chance theories-or trying...

it's a lot better at explaining the time travel idea.
As if you didn't read that thread anyway...

ps. I didn't know the time travel idea was dead.
Just purgatory and the dream theories...

Predictus, let me first welcome you to Lost-TV. I'm sure you're going to enjoy our community. Make sure to take a look around, it's easy to get lost.

Secondly, I just used time travel, to complete a search. There were to many results to give you a link. Why don't you give it a try, and read some of those threads.

Thanks. My mistake was in searching only the subjects and not the text. Hopefully I can now earn the status of Found, I hate being Lost.

Dear Predictus,

Because the search function is virutally useless on this board, and because I'm as obsessed as anyone here (but as the daughter of a reference librarian, show it differently), I have compiled a vast index to Theories and Speculations on this board. Enter below, by topic or conceptual category (drop-down menu).

Time Travel...?

OK, I'm a HUGE fan of Back to the Future and Time Machine... been reading some theories of it as well, and this sounds like an interesting idea. You know, IF the time travel was possible, than aliens, UFO sightings, ghosts and those kind of things could be just people from the future, that are doing something they are not supposed to be doing (Time Cop reference). It's even possible that if people could go back in time, they'd be in another dimension. Imagine that you go back in time, like yesterday, and walk by yourself or something like that. It's not only illogical, but also physically impossible, because that would mean that mater (atoms you're made of) would be duplicated out of nothing, which is impossible. I take it that LOST is more serious show than Back to the future, so "the voices" could be from people who are visiting from the future. Sure, we can talk about time paradox (Terminator 2 and 3 theory vs. BTTF and Time Machine theory), the space-time continuum, but i don't think LOST is all about it... people wouldn't dig that ...
