I was watching Episode 13 again and I heard something go by that just snapped a vague theory I had into focus.
Early in episiode 13 Boone warns Sayid to "Stay away from my sister." The thing that caught my attention was Locke, a few minutes later, tells Boone not to make an enemy of Sayid because quote "We are gonna want him on our side."
Okay enough of the preamble here's my thoughts.
I believe Locke did kill Boone.
For a long time I have believed that Locke is working for/being manipulated by whatever force is behind the curtain.
I also believe that Locke recognizes the "special" abilities of Walt because he shares them. Which may also explain how he knew Walt set the raft afire. (Whether Locke has always possessed special powers or was given them by the island I don't know.) When Locke hears the radio crackle on a flush of panic hits his face. Not a moment later the the plane lurches foward out of it's position despite no majar movement inside the plane. I think that Locke couldn't allow a signal to be sent so he mentally moved the plane in hopes of scaring Boone out of the craft. He subsequently begins urging Boone out of the plane. The force behind the island however had always intended their journey to the plane as a way to remove Boone before he caused a rift with Sayid. Which brings me back to the preamble
"We are gonna need him on our side."
GONNA need him. Locke is already planning a coup d'etat and he knows who the usefull ones will be. Ever notice how he never misses an opportunity to ingratiate himself with certain others. Remember his endearing Webelo story to Sayid that didn't seem to move Sayid at all. So what does Locke do then gives him a gift of the compass (adaptability). I'll try and compile a specific list but Charlie and Claire are another perfect example and of course they are the two biggest influences on the "special" baby.
Anyway thats my thoughts. Many of these speculations have been around for a while but I couldn't find anything on Locke bringing down the beachcraft. Maybe I'm just nuts.
