I actually like her character and HOPE they do something more with her in the near future.
I really like Shannon too! She's the Cordelia of Lost. Obviously she's going to get a reality check one day and end up to be not as bad as she seems.

Great point. I hadn't thought of that till you mentioned it.
I have a feeling she's going to be our only link to communication with the french woman.

I had hoped that Boone nearly drowning would start her wake-up call but there was absolutely NOTHING between Shannon and Boone in this episode! That saddens me because their relationship is the one that interests me the most lol. They're siblings and that's always the relationships I like best. (not to say i'm not interested in the potential romantic relationships, lol)
^ Same here! I thought there'd be at least ONE scene with them together but there was really none. That's weird seeing as how in the other episodes, they smushed in at least one scene with the both of them together and in this one where Boone was sort of a major character, they didn't even have a scene with the two of them.
I like the Shannon/Boone sibling relationship best too so far, I think. Both of their characters are so fun to me, even though many people dislike both of them. Haha.

shannon is hot!
Cordelia as in Angel? Well... I wouldn't go that far, I mean-- Cordelia was NICE in my opinion. I just think that Shannon needs to worry less on her nails, and more on survival!! That's what I would do if I was on an island. I mean, even if Versace was on the island with a drawing book, cloth, and a sewing kit.
(No offense to anyone meant)

I think the person was referring to Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, not Angel. She was Queen C on BtVS. Queen C ruled the school and said anything she wanted to. I found it refreshing. Cordelia went from Queen C to Cordy after she kept falling for "losers" (Xander and Doyle). I really wish they had left some traces of Queen C in her.
Shannon is definitely the Queen C of the island. That's why I love the character because, with a character like Shannon, many people won't look past what the character acts like to see who the character is.
I can't wait to see why Shannon is the way she is. These writers wouldn't make Shannon a flat character. And, much like what happened with Cordelia when she lost all of her money, I'm sure something will happen and she'll lighten up a bit. Hopefully she'll still be a bit on the mean side; that's what will make her a round character...more intriguing.

I agree that her character is interesting. I am more interested in hers and Boone's backstory than anyone else, I think. I think it will make for an interesting episode.

Yes Wynter I totally agree. I did NOT like her at all at first, but now I am teetering.

I think her behavior is do partly to learned helplessness. It is obvious that everyone in her life rags on her for being "useless" in one way or another. So perhaps it started young, and the parents said comments to her that they thought as "light-hearted" but were barbed and it stuck into her. From the last episode, all the "useless" type of comments that have been said to her (through the years, probably at a very young age) really affected how she sees herself. She puts on this image of self-importance, snobbery to hide the fact that she might not see her self-worth (or think it so small that it doesn't even matter) and that she might really be useless (which is why she doesn't seem to try). Because, nothing is scarier than finding out that everything that people have said to her might be true, thus, Shannon doesn't even attempt to try because of a severe fear of rejection, failure, and ridicule.

I hated Shannon in the first few episodes, I was thinking "What a snob!" But when she was having asthma attacks I felt truly bad for her, because Ive never had asthma, but I had an illness that was really like it, and doctors thought it could trigger asthma (or could be triggered by asthma, I dont know) but it's really scary when you cant breathe, and I feel bad for anyone in that position. Now I really like her character a lot, and I hope she's not the one to die, she really grows on you

Like a mold...
Kidding. From the first moment I saw Shannon I practicaly screamed "Cordelia". I loved Cordelia's tactlessness and especially those little insights into the lonliness of Cordelia's world of popularity.
Honestly, I didn't realize how much I admired and liked Shannon until I had to explain the episode Hearts and Minds to my father (yes, my entire family watches Lost!:D ). Immediatly when I began trying to explain the infamous hotel room scene, I immediatly took what I saw as Shannon's viewpoint.
I really hope the writers let the Shannon and Boone thing alone. I enjoy the idea of squabbling jealous and competing siblings on the island far more than the supposed love connection.
