I really dislike this girl ... I think what she did to Charlie, a guy who is obviously enamoured of her, was just cruel. All so she could wave the fish in front of Boone and say: "See, I got one." I don't think I would have minded it so much but this was obviously a tactic she uses in everyday life. "I won't do it because I can get someone else to do it for me." (how does she keep her cute figure when she never gets off her little behind?).
Hm. Maybe it was just the hurt look on Charlie's face that upset me. :( Poor guy. I think he's as lonely as Locke.

I don't feel too sorry for Charlie. I mean, you'd think he'd been around the block enough times to realize she was using him. My question is why did she think he could fish in the first place?

She is a serious tool, just when I thought she looked cute with out the whiney face on for a change but then she tried to take credit for the fish right in front of Charlie with no regards for HIS accomplishment or feelings.

common stereotype in her character, I'm sure it was all for basic humor
Wasnt it funny when Charlie was about to jump all over Shannon when she wanted to ask him something. "YEAH, I PLAY BASS IN DRIVE-"

I loved that scene! I thought maybe Shannon would keep flirting with Charlie, for regular meals and all, but she dropped him 'like an oily rag' once she got what she wanted. Poor attention-starved Charlie-- good thing he's still drugged up. I felt really bad for the poor parrot-fish.Wasnt it funny when Charlie was about to jump all over Shannon when she wanted to ask him something. "YEAH, I PLAY BASS IN DRIVE-" Yeah, this was so cute. I wonder how long it will take for him to go through everyone on the whole island, and realize no one has any idea who he is?

Didn't Shannon actually ask him if he could fish before she asked him to get a fish???
And I'm thinking that one of Charlie's hang ups could be...that no one does recognize who he is!! He might be upset the lead singer got more attention then him, therfore explaining how he became heavy into drugs!!

She dropped Charlie because Boone put Charlie on to her and she knew she'd have to move on to her next victim.
My views on Shannon were expressed in rather lurid terms in chat last night.
fava beans and a nice chianti....
moving this to ther character/actor thread!

Well Suil I believe it was you who mentioned in the chatroom it would be interesting to see a confrontation with Shannon and Sawyer. That would be great! He would put her in her place...LOL!

Irony: The women fans here on the board by and large love Sawyer but hate Shannon.
This is why I don't date! lol

I can totally see her using Charlie and various other peoples on the island to get what she needs. THAT'S survival skills!
I'm looking forward to seeing Charlie continue to do what she wants because he's just the type who would let a pretty girl use him over and over again.

Sootball, I think this can be considered self-destructive more than anything else.
As far as the audience has seen, Boone has taken care of providing for Shannon until this point, and when he mocks her for it, her reaction is childish. "I'll show you!"
What did Shannon really show Boone (and us)? That she's willing to manipulate people to get what she wants. It also showed us that she's rather stupid in how she does it.
Shannon bickering with Boone over 'her' having gotten the fish alienated Charlie, completely. She got what she wanted and then, without any foresight whatsoever, she humiliated, dumped and generally ignored him as a human being.
I've no doubt she'll keep trying to manipulate other survivors, but sooner or later she'll get a reality check from one of them, or she'll continue until she runs out of victims to con. Once either of these happen, she's up a river without a paddle.

i think what shannon did was mean....
I agree completely azteclady.
You got to give Shannon some leeway here, she's probably never had to fend for herself, used to everyone doing everything for her when she snaps her fingers and now she has a chance to be independent she doesn't even know where to begin.
Personally I'll enjoy seeing her grow as a character from spoiled brat to being able to survive on the island without Boone's help (or anyone elses). On the other hand, she has to accept that people will help her *not* because she's "ordered" them to but because they all have to help each other to survive.
And dmcquickly, I think Shannon is one of the most interesting people on the island ;) along with Boone, Sawyer, Jack and Kate ;) I don't know about a confrontation between Sawyer and Shannon but I love seeing Boone try and put her in her place, it's very entertaining :lol

one person did reconize Charlie from Drive shaft and that was Kate, in the first part of the pilot.
I personally don't agree that it's survival skills. Like Jack said, it can't be one man for himself. And in her case, using people isn't going to help. Maybe from time to time, but in the long run people will soon not like her. It seems to me, people are hanging on a thread to like her, (the Lost characters), and the person holding the Thread is Boone. Soon, she might not have anyone to USE, then what is she going to do? I agree with Boone that she needs to learn how to take care of herself, just in case something happens. And if not, then she needs to contribute, instead of being selfish, and taking everything for herself when she can. I rather have respect, so I can have true friend and allies on the island, and survive longer. I mean, Shannon wouldn't care if someone died; only if they were of 'use' to her. That Fish thing was an example. And Charlie was just trying to be nice, helping her out like that. No matter the reason, he certainly wasn't playing by the using someone rule. That's just my opininon.
