BIGGGGGGGGG SPOILERS ABOUT TRAILER AFTER TONIGHTS SHOW!!!!!!!!

most likely, he just might be, but there is still part of me that thinks there is something else going on.

what if he is alex and doing his own crazy thing, but meanwhile, we still don't known what it is sayid saw or knows.

could the writers be playing with our minds that way or am I just crazy??

maybe you shouldn't have that about ethan because not everyone watches the previews.

im saying either ethan is alex and just running amok, playing with them or one of "the others" danielle and sayid speak of.

im still kinda unsure which.

if either!

I'm thinking that what you see in the previews is not what actually happens in the episode. We're all assuming that Ethan was not on the plane, etc. WE're assuming that Jack has tracking skills (not) based on what little we see in the preview.

And what we'll see next week will be vastly different......

moving this to spoiler thread just for those who don't look at previews.

This is what I think. This may sound a bit crazy, but here we go:

Just maybe, Thomas (Claires ex-boyfriend) is Ethan. Maybe he followed her. I mean, they both have a slight resemblance and all. Just a thought.

Yeah... I'm going to have to go with a no on that one.

At first, I was thinking that Ethan was one of the "others" but as I start thinking about it more and more, I don't know. There's a good chance he is, but on the other hand, don't you think that they "gave it away" too easily? I think there's a chance that he was on the plane, and he's the one going off his meds. "Alex" or whoever's with them and wasn't on the plane could be someone central that's been there since the beginning. THAT would be a BIG plot twist.

Ethan isn't French (canadian prehaps) and therefore not Alex. That would be to easy for people to figure out - our writers are smarter than that.

Ethan? Is probably one of the "others" and has some connection to Alex Dainelle. He is also one weird looking dude...come on. He look very primative. Maybe he was there even before Danielle's research ship went down.

So is there any correlation to Ethan Rom and perhaps the classic novel Ethan Frome?
Ethan Frome married his mothers nurse, who was older, because he didn't want to be alone. (Daneille?)
He fell in love with her younger, prettier cousin. (Claire?)
Ethan felt trapped on an unproductive farm and yearned for the city life. (trapped on the island, and wants to be rescued?)

I can't figure out the pickle dish part, unless Claires child is the most valuable thing on the island.

And I doubt Ethan and Claire would want to commit suicide by tobogganing into the polar bears.

Maybe there is no connection, but I'd figured I'd run it up the flagpole and see if anyone saluted it.

There have been many speculations to whether his name is an anagram for "The Roman".

And since their flight number was 815.

If you actually go do the leg work in the Bible, Romans 8:15 says: For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Thought it was too much of coincidence. I don't get too much into the New Testament (I'm not a Christian), but this is kind of interesting.

Soory posted this on another post. It's also an anagram of 'Other man.'

Isn't Ethan Rom an anagram from Other Man?

(Sorry if this was already mentioned here)

whats up with that puncture wound on ethans neck that Jack was mending to? you think he was injected with something? the vines wouldn't have caused that.

I always thought Ethan's name was just taken from the actor's real name - William Mapother,

M-A-P-O-T-H-E-R =

ETHAP ROM

and they just made the first name Ethan.

Hahaha good point. I think he might be Danielle's son Alex, only going by a different name... Ethan Rom just sounds like a made-up name, what with the anagram and all

Does Danielle look old enough for Ethan to be her son?

We really don't know much about Danielle's group that was on the island previously. The were said to be scientists, so they may have brought the hi-bred animals with them.

good point about the animals..and i would say yes, danielle looks old enough to be ethan's mother...or shall we say alex's? who knows with this show almost anything could happen! :)

Hi! A newbie here! I have been browsing these boards for a while and decided it was time to join!
I got my new TV guide in the mail yesterday and there was a small article with Maypother (Ethan) and there was reference to the fact that his name means OTHER MAN. ANyone else read that?:smokin
