Well, a simple question really.

He seems good (I voted good) He just seems mean because he just shows people the reality of the stuff going on. and sometimes that way is by pain.

I know that Locke is good, because he is my favorite charcter, and he is very wise.

Everyone seems to love Locke but I think he's creepy, so I went with bad :\

I don't like the messiah complex thing he's got going on either.

I'm all for Locke being good. He just strikes me as a "good guy" but whether the island will turn him is another thing.

locke is good. he's, in my opinion, the smartest and wisest on the island. however, the island is sorta starting to possess him...

Yes I think he's good. But whatever is in that hatch is able to turn him into is another story.

Locke has been seduced by the island. He's not good or bad, but dangerous, like a religous zealot.

Let's hope he doesn't hear any whispered messages about sacrificing babies, eh? ;)

I think Locke started off good but now I think he has gotten to close to the island and it is turning him dare I say..bad.

Hmmm. Tuff one. I went with bad!!:\ Sorry but Locke is starting to get on my bad side and is very weird!!! He makes me madder than mad at times

Locke was good at first, like he knew everything and knew what was going on, and was always helping. But the island is doing something to him, not sure what, but now he's kinda creepy.

I voted neutral. After watching the first 20 episodes of this awesome series, all I know is that nothing is what it seems.

So I am going to take a plunge here and say that Locke is not good but at this point he isn't bad here - so I see him as a neutral person.

If you asked this question after the 4th Episode (Lock-centric), then I would have voted good because he has been given a great gift and considering how he was so willing to help people out of harms way in the Pilot episode, I couldn't think of a way to portray Locke as being evil/bad.

Within the past couple of episodes, we see that Locke is getting more selfish. He has his own agenda(s)? According to his own beliefs, he knows exactly why he's at the island but just doesn't seem to understand how to go about it getting it done (yet).

And another thing to add and to agree to... yes, Locke has been the wisest character out of everyone. But lately, I've been thinking that he's been so wise that it's actually a bit scary.

Everyone can go back and forth though... :P

Overall I think he's good. Leading Boone to his death was really bad though...but I don't think it was intentional. Then again it could be. *facepalm*

Tough love.
He's good, and he helps you: he's one of those guys that you'll always thank later because you never get how he's helping you when he's helping you but it's very helpful later.
Charlie's the only living testament to that, but Boone's death....I still don't quite get that.

I think Locke himself is a good man, but I also think he is being used by some evil force. So therefore, I voted "i don't know".

I chose neutral because he is trying to get them off the island, but bad because he made Boone go into the plane when Locke should of went in himself, because it was his dream not Boone's.

Good all the way baby!

Locke's a very complex character. He's very philosophical and can be strange at times, but he doesn't seem to be very evil. So I have to go with good.

ILJ, you dredge up the most interesting dead threads!!

What I found really amazing is how all these years later, much of the same opinions of him are floating about...

I think he has good intentions.

But I think the island makes him do bad things...

Still, if you really mean to do well, you're good, right?

Yet, if your blindly letting yourself be led astray without considering the full consequences of your actions...

I'm conflicted.

No, he'll wise up and work to mop up his messes. Good.

He's a good guy who doesn't quite know what he's doing. Ultimately though, I think the Island is the supreme force of good in the Lost universe, and Locke is a defender of the Island.

He wants to be good. His intentions are good. He's just so darn easily manipulated. First by his dad. THen by Ben. Now by Richard. In the end, the story of his redemption will be bumping off Richard and not giving in to his junk.

Ultimately though, I think the Island is the supreme force of good in the Lost universe, and Locke is a defender of the Island.

I agree with the latter, but not the former. I'm not convinced that the Island is "good" but Locke certainly is a defender of it.

As far as a simple answer goes:

Good.

I don't think that Locke does things with malicious intent-- and in my book, intentions count for more than results.

ETA: Apparently, however, I'd voted "I'm not sure" sometime in the hazy past.

I think Locke is good, but sometimes he can be misguided. He thinks with his heart and not his head.

He's too dumb and misguided to be truly good or truly evil.

He's too dumb and misguided to be truly good or truly evil.

He would have to literally be mentally retarded to be that dumb, which he quite clearly is not.

He's both, just like all the rest of us.
