Re: Vonne Watches Television - True Detective (post 723)

The most enjoyable 8 episodes of television I have ever watched. And rewatched multiple times. One of those rare series where every element is perfection.

Enjoy vonne!

Re: True Detective (HBO)

It would have certainly helped which was my original point. One director was also the original vision before CJF backed out. Multiple directors had a negative impact especially since the writing...

Re: True Detective (HBO)

The "mistake" was using different directors - 6 to be exact - across S2 vs. having a single vision.

Re: True Detective (HBO)

I'm surprised by the S3 news after how poorly S2 performed. For my money, S1 was the best 8 episodes of television I have ever experienced and I've rewatched a few times now. After the new HBO head...

Re: Twin Peaks - Showtime Sunday

I'd be cautious about taking that ARG seriously.
The site was total crap.Funnier that he grew into this spindly braintree:
[[spoiler removed]]Lynch re-imagined the character - the original actor is...

Re: Twin Peaks - Showtime Sunday

The first nuclear bomb test rips a fissure in time and a dark faceless menace vomits out pure evil while a giant imagines the pure light of Laura. I like how the story spans the time of the Cold War...

Re: Twin Peaks - Showtime Sunday

Truff - I'm all in and always have been.

That was without a doubt the most mind-blowing hour of television ever. And I need to watch it a few more times. I was unable to sleep after witnessing the...

Re: Twin Peaks - Showtime Sunday (Premieres May 21)

There was even a black smoke monster...

Yes it was hard to watch. No one creates that sense of dread and decoherence like Lynch. But it became more coherent towards the end. I was surprised and...

Re: Twin Peaks - Showtime Sunday (Premieres May 21)

Highly recommend a S1/2 rewatch - I started rewatching the original earlier this year and finished up last week which was great prep for The Return. It's a continuation so we pick up where we left...

Re: Westworld: Is William the MIB?

Interesting, but I don't think it's enough sandi - props are usually not very reliable support for theorizing. Plus, it's not uncommon for there to be different logo versions hanging around for a...

Re: Westworld - S01E06 - The Adversary

On the topic of William=MiB and the potential of two timelines, I thought the latest episode connected those two storylines when MiB and Teddy ran into the soldiers:And the previous episode showed...

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

I love how these lines of dialogue illustrate Dolores' journey to self-awareness:Here are robot slaves programmed for a specific role - the damsel, the whore, etc. - that are now demonstrating...

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

After 5 episodes there isn't direct evidence of anything. But I thought this one built on the idea that's been there since the beginning. Dolores, Maeve, the little girl, and likely other hosts are...

Re: Westworld - S01E05 - Contrapasso

Why does Ford need a spy if HQ has an eye on all of the guests? We've seen HQ watching MiB a few times now.

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

Yes, you may have missed something. But we'll have to wait and see. After all, we're only 4 episodes in!

When the hosts die there is no funeral. There is no burial. There is only being hosed off,...

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

So glad you brought up the music, Pi. I've been thinking about its use in the series a lot. Just the idea that music created by humans is being interpreted through a machine like a player piano is a...

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

Yes, she was digging up a grave with her name on it. We know Dolores the host isn't in that grave. So who's could it be? More importantly, what do her actions symbolize?

ETA: And I thought the...

Re: Westworld - S01E04 - Dissonance Theory

Hey Sandi,
Terminally ill wasn't mentioned specifically but the guest said MiB's foundation "saved his sister's life." On the suits, I can't remember what the suits from the ranch clean up looked...
