Re: The unreliable narrators on Lost (flashbacks & island)

This works for me as a symbol for the entire Lost narrative.
You got the profane vending machine plus the mysterious Apollo bar creating a sacred ritual: Shut down, recycling and release.

It...

Re: The unreliable narrators on Lost (flashbacks & island)

I think that one of the issues Marsichs has is that he identifies "unreliable" narrators with "dramatized" narrators as the guy telling the story in "The usual Suspects".
There are more types of...

Re: The unreliable narrators on Lost (flashbacks & island)

Good points.
This is all language, so we have to analyse it as such.
The first kind of question one is faced with is...

Can we interpret this passage (episode, scene, shot...)

LITERALLY...

Re: The unreliable narrators on Lost (flashbacks & island)

Did the island sink?

Is there evidence to prove it did?
Is there evidence to prove it didn't?

How do you interpret this evidence?

Re: The unreliable narrators on Lost (flashbacks & island)

My thread is really about that: asking questions about the show.
Isn't it what the authors wanted in the first place?
Did they not open their own website to give venue to this...

Re: The Threshold

If you continue the modern art metaphor then you shouldn't be concerned about the "final" draft. That's just the product handed to the corporations to make money of. The "real" work is the process...

Re: + Theory of infinite regression related to Lost, Time, and art, explaining the "?"

We take flight 815 and it crashes on the island
We detonate a H-bomb and fly off the island
and we set up everyone in the alternate universe
to take flight 815 to the island
and start the ride...
