Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Well, Al Davis is dead now so The League's vendetta against him can finally rest, lol! I think that our days of leading the league in penalties are probably over now. *crosses fingers*

Speaking of vendettas...Did you hear the one about why Marcus Allen was in Al Davis' dog house for so many years?

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

How did the Bengals loose to the Texans Thursday night? 13-9! Especially with a rookie QB leading a team that didn't score a TD in week #1.

Now that I think about it, Cincinnati didn't score at all in week #1.

Marvin Lewis won't make it thru this season if they don't win soon.

He fired his offensive coordinator, which isn't a great solution to the problem. As head coach, he might have worked it out with the OC and changed the game plan. Cincinnati's ownership is patient, so I think they'll wait until the end of the season, but I think we'll see significant changes there by next year.

Well, NE bounced back in a big way. Was confident they would win, but didn't expect them to clobber NO, which starts 0-2 yet again. (How does a team with a QB like Brees struggle for so long? Payton just can't coach defense.) Kudos to Gronk, who played a big Gronklike game, to TB12, and to the defense in general, especially Flowers and this new Wise guy.

As for other games, I couldn't believe the Chargers could lose again on a last-minute missed field goal; I thought Seattle looked pretty flat letting the 49ers hang around in a home game (but a win is a win, I guess); the Rams got predictably exposed after their surprise win last week; neither Cleveland nor the Jets will win a game this year; and boy did Chicago look silly with their overpaid under-experienced QB against the Bucs. (And the game is still on, but Hodge's Cowboys...just awful.)

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Took the Seahawks until their eighth quarter of the season to score a touchdown. SMH. It's not like they didn't control the ball against the Niners. Dropped passes and stupid mistakes were the issue today. O-line still needs a lot of work as well. NFC West has the Cards, Rams, and Hawks tied at 1 - 1, Niners in their customary position of last place.

The 'Boys were surely exposed against the Broncos. I guess if you want to beat Dallas, bring a man (maybe two) down in the box. Force Dak to beat you with the pass.

Now, I will say, you'd better have one of the best DB-fields in League, or you'll pay big time.

Speaking of one of the best DB-fields in the League. I assume Talib (spl) and Dez are going study now. Aqib Talib didn't let Bryant breath without him being in his hip pocket.

Damn ZoW!
Damn Broncos!

Peggy, can Payton last another season with a poor Defense? I mean they're really, really bad.

And, I feel sorry for Brees, TPTB (Mrs. Hodgepodge) and of course,Mr. Mo. Brees shouldn't have to go out like this.

The Chargers kicker had to call Uber to get a ride home after the game. This is the 2nd-game he could've tied or won with a field-goal.

I'm really surprise by the Seahawks showing in these two games. As TBC points out, it's taken them two games to score a TD. WTF! And, I'm worried about Wilson. I really like the guy, but I'm not sure he'll last thru the season if they don't protect him.

Re: NFL Thread Pt. II

Yesterday was the first real rain we have had since Spring. According to the FOX TV crew (Who were those guys anyway?) Wilson spent time Saturday throwing balls which had been hosed down by the trainers. Should have spent more time and had his receivers practice catching them. Drops by Graham and MacEvoy, two passes that sailed over open receivers, one that bounced in six feet short, and one which was headed right for a waiting open safety but a corner who failed his situational awareness roll tipped it incomplete. All stuff to work on before the team heads down to Tennessee...
