Stay for tea, have some fun. It's all just a state of mind.

I'm looking at this as a ZoW-type hint.
  • Stay for tea = English band
  • Have some fun = The Beatles (maybe)
  • It's all just a state of mind = Psychedelic group

Let the facepalming begin.

Re: Game *Name That Tune*

Ok, this is slightly obscure. It never charted but it's a well-known song, or at least it was well-known back when there were lots of classic rock radio stations in the US. It's the "B" Side to a big hit, and appeared on the following album. It was the second best well-known song by the group in their early years, before their mega-smash hit. I'll give a whole bunch of lyrics, but will skip the title.

Quote:
You thought the leaden winter
Would bring you down forever
But you rode upon a steamer
To the violence of the sun

And the colors of the sea
Blind your eyes with trembling mermaids
And you touch the distant beaches
Quote:
For the sparkling waves are calling you
To touch their white laced lips

And you see a girl's brown body
Dancing through the turquoise
And her footprints make you follow
Where the sky loves the sea

And when your fingers find her
She drowns you in her body
Carving deep blue ripples
In the tissues of your mind

The tiny purple fishes
Run laughing through your fingers
And you want to take her with you
To the heart land of the winter

Her name is Aphrodite
And she rides a crimson shell
You know you cannot leave her
For you touched the distant sands

Re: Game *Name That Tune*

I'm a huge Zeppelin fan. As a matter of fact, in my opinion they're the greatest band of all time. And I didn't recognize the lyrics.

I'll take a look at the other lyrics now.

Re: Game *Name That Tune*

Ok some big hints to help things along: power trio; non-US; highly influential as well as enjoying considerable critical and commercial success. As a group they didn't last more than a handful of years (late 60's), but each member had success after the band broke up, too (some more success than others, but they each did well).

The title of the song in question involves a mythical hero.

Obviously, initially I thought it may've been, Rush. Were they from America or Canada?

Then I thought, Police. But, they were later than the 60s.

I can't think of any trios other than the ones I've named. Now watch, once we get the answer, it's going to be obvious.

I hate you already, Mr Mo!

It's Cream's seminal Tales of Brave Ulysses.
