Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

As LBJ put up a new career high for assists along the way. I read that message as: The King wanted to show somebody that he's happy with the new personnel.

gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Footnote: As the Hawks have held a firesale the Florida Marlins would be proud of since reaching the Eastern Conference Finals, personal records against them are automatically discounted from the record books.

They're real bad, TBC.

ETA: Has anyone seen BA? With the Cavs demolishing the Celtics the other day, I expected him to be in here talking trash. Oh BA!

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

two games don't make a universe. but i'm glad they're doing better. part of me misses the championship guys though. nothing stays the same. the new guys wanted to prove something. that does mean something.

I'm thinking George Hill can also bring some "Pop" culture. If you know what I mean.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

Waiting to see what the new guys can bring to the Cavs. I know Nance has been a disappointment with the Lakers. Waste of a first round pick. But he's not the only one by a long ways down there. Maybe a different atmosphere will help him.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

Since the trade, the Cavs have beaten both the Celtics and the Thunder, both teams that blew them out in the not-too-distant past. Nance had 13 points, 9 boards, and 2 dimes in 25 minutes on court against OKC. LBJ had only 28 minutes on court against Boston.

Obviously it's too early to say whether Cleveland has returned to championship form, but they definitely look like a better team than they did a couple weeks ago. The Cavs also beat Atlanta the day after the trade deadline frenzy, and i have to wonder if Cleveland's new additions won't have Hawks' fans taunt "LeBron will trade you" ringing in their ears for the rest of the season.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

I've only had the opportunity to watch "highlights" of their game thus far. I'm curious how they look as a "team" on the court.

I was completely surprised by them defeating the Celtics, especially with the new squad just getting to Cleveland. But, as you point out, that says a lot.

Speaking of surprised...The Warriors aren't as dominate as they were last season. Maybe it's just the length of the first-half of the season, but they've looked awful.

I've always prided them as the #1 Defensive team in the League, but they can't whole anyone below triple-digits. Oh Liz!

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

The second best win percentage in the Association overall, Hodge, but you're speaking specifically about their defense? 5th best overall D in the league is definitely a step down, but i personally wouldn't call it awful. It is interesting that they're leading the league in blocks but are cellar-dwelling (27th out of 30) in opponents points in the paint; not quite sure how that happens lol.
