My cat had a complete blockage of the urethra. Life threatening. He's been admitted into the Emergency Animal Hospital where I will now work as an indentured servant for the rest of my natural life.

(Seriously though, send good thoughts. He's very sick and must have been in tremendous pain)

If they can get the catheter in there things might be okay.

This is what gertie died of. I'll never, ever forget it. She was 19.

If your cat is younger, then maybe better chances.

Of course a cat at age 19 could just pass from being 19.

He is only 2 years old. A normally very healthy strong boy. But male cats are susceptible to this, at least some, especially when stressed, which my cats were b/c we were away and I hired a live-in pet sitter. I can't win with the whole pet care thing.

In positive news, Otis liked her and did not attack.

Seriously. Sorry enough to put away literally pages worth of bad jokes because they would be utterly beyond tasteless at this point. So, yeah, genuinely sorry.

We just lost our dog last week. The sting is still rather fresh.
I'm so sorry about your dog Losing a pet is awful.

Thanks for the continued restraint, I can definitely see the potential for jokes. I always think it's best to laugh rather than cry if possible, and so right now I'm focusing on the hilarious bill.

Bad news - My parents flew down south to visit my brother and his wife to see their new house. My mom came down with pneumonia again while down there and is now hospitalized. This is her 3rd hospitalization for pneumonia. I'm getting very different reactions from my parents. My dad seems to think she'll be fine, just a few days in the hospital and then she'll have to stay with my brother for a couple of weeks because it won't be safe to fly. She, on the other hand, sounds like she's saying goodbyes. She has a bronchoscopy tomorrow, and I think is very scared of general anesthesia right now.

Please keep her in your thoughts guys.
Keeping her in my thoughts, and congrats on the interview!

My cat before these 2 died naturally and quickly at 17.

And thanks Warty, I hope so. They DID get the catheter in, so his bladder is draining, which is good. What is of concern right now is whether, when they remove it tomorrow, he can pee on his own; whether he immediately obstructs again; and whether he suffered permanent kidney damage. Earlier today his levels were off-the-chart bad (the machine couldn't even read one result), but this could go down with time. Fingers crossed.

It's like the guy who told his friends that his 98 year old grandmother died. His friends asked "what was the cause of death?" and he replied "she wrapped her Harley around a telephone pole at 90 miles an hour... how else would you think my 98 year old grandma died?"
