Rio Olympics 2016

Yay! Opening Ceremonies are tomorrow night.

Since many people enjoy gymnastics, here's the link to the gymnastics schedule.

Anyone else excited? I do hope everything goes smoothly at the Games. Or that the only controversies are whether or not the Russians doped AGAIN.

Re: Rio Olympics 2016

Love Women's Gymnastics. I'm sure we'll be watching those.

But Brdmom, I was channel surfing the other night, and found two women's soccer games already in progress. I guess because there are so many teams, they have to get things started early.

Anyway, I got a chance to watch the US vs. New Zealand game. The United States beat them 2-0. Strange occurrence...It seems Hope Solo, the US goalie posted an Instagram photo of her wearing a bee-keepers net, and holding a case of bug repellent. Needless to say, this didn't go over well with the Brazilian crowds. She was booed every time she touched the ball, which wasn't often.

Also, France devoured Columbia. When I stopped watching, it was 4-0, in the 2nd-half.

Wow. Just have to laugh at Hope there. The Brasilians aren't the force they used to be in women's football. They did place second in the Algarve Cup, oddly lacking the American this year. They came in as the 7th ranked team, highest in the field, and lost the final to the second highest, 11th ranked Canada.

Thanks for posting the gymnastics schedule - so excited!

We actually went out last night so I recorded the Opening Ceremonies. I need to watch the world come together on something.

Re: Rio Olympics 2016

My household all dozed off during the parade of nations. I was the only one awake for the end of it. I love the cauldron this year.

I recorded it because I went to bed during the parade of nations. Maybe the boys and I will watch the lighting of the torch this afternoon.

What does everyone think so far?

I've watched bits and pieces of things, but haven't really gotten into it yet.

There was talk that the games were going to be disaster because of Zika, pollution, etc., but I don't think it's been too bad so far other than the diving pool turning green

Re: Rio Olympics 2016

I watched the Women's Team Gymnastics the other night. Way to go U.S.A.

Obviously, I want to see how far Phelps can put the Gold Medal count out of reach.
