Re: Fargo

Intriguing premiere. I like the (some not so) subtle similarities and differences.
Biggest difference may be the intelligence of the main antagonist, tho.
In the film version it seemed like most peeps were kinda dense, especially the villains.
Looks like the TPTB really wanted both sides to be firing with both barrels.
Lorne is one interesting and kinda scary MOFO! Thornton was well cast here.
Only caught a bit of Hanks as the stared down Deputy/officer.
Freeman channeling his inner Macy as Lester Nygaard. Kinda liking Molly.
Miss Tolman's got some pretty big boots to fill there. Definitely gonna keep watching.
Anyone catch the Lebowski shout out/easter egg on the chalkboard that said 'white russian'?

Re: Fargo

The show rides on how well the new performers do replacing Frances McDormand and William Macy and the other stellar actors. No small task.

Re: Fargo

I finally watched the movie last night to see if I'd be interested in the tv show. The tv show could be much like Northern Exposure.

The movie was annoying for the most part. The personalities and all the ya and eeh and don cha knows were over the top for me. The storyline was quirky and interesting, but the whole ethnicity of it became less a focus on that culture and more of a joke.

I don't know how well the tv show will be if it continues the personalities of the characters with such verocity. It will become boring quick.

Re: Fargo

I'm finally watching the pilot. 26 minutes in, and I'm pretty much hooked.

Re: Fargo

Martin Freeman is superb. Lots of dark humor. I'm on board!

Okay, I get the Sling Blade reference, but am clueless about Bilbo and unsure of underpantie guy.
