In 2007/2008, I was already saying that Hillary sucks and Obama should be president.

How the F could you support Hillary during any primary, ever? LMAO

Re: Politics

I pretty much have to agree. Loved me some Bernie. Voted for Jill Stein in '12 and '16. In fact, i never even voted for Hill for Senate. I've never voted for Hill. If NY was a swing state i would have, though. But still not in the primary.

I was only 22/23! I bought into the DNC propaganda. Glass ceiling! The ~Clinton~ name!

Thankfully, by the time this election rolled around, I had understood it's all primarily about money / favors. And I'm a big ole socialist, so I had Bernie to root for.

...

Til they disenfranchised him and kept him from the nomination. Once that happened, I immediately started telling everybody Trump just won. LMAO I had sooooo many FB comment thread fights with people insisting Hillary couldn't lose. Good times.

F her for making me support Trump. Or maybe not F her, cause now my views have changed on many of the issues.

Re: Politics

No way i was going to vote for Trump. To be completely honest, i have vague naive hope that he might actually accomplish something worthwhile. Nothing yet, though, and some pretty serious negatives. At least he's backed off some from his campaign rhetoric. He's actually made a few moves that i like but they're small.

Now i'm hearing he's in hot water and there may be another impeachment in my lifetime. I hope he fights it tooth and nail, and i hope he wins. I'm not a fan of the guy by any stretch of the imagination, but Mike Pence in the bully pulpit would be an absolute disaster for 99% of the country.

Re: Politics

Really, Trump has done something good? He and his gang are trying to overturn everything that was good for the country to benefit the upper niche. De-regulation of the banks and wall street are setting us up for future meltdowns. The voucher system for schools.. come on? His stance on immigration, the environment and clean energy? He's an embarrassment and still doesn't realize that he's not on a reality TV show.

I wasn't a big Hillary fan, mostly due to the obvious "entitlement" maneuverings since leaving the white house in 2000 and having Bill and his cigars anywhere near the White House, but at least she can formulate sentences and ideas and would continue supporting the programs that worked. It would be more of the same, but she's better than who we wound up with. I hope this last election is the end of the Clinton clan's run, time for the dems to support and market someone else.

Re: Politics

For the first time ever, the US hit 10% wind and solar energy. For the size of our nation, we are one of the cleanest industrial powers in the world right now. Please don't let the Paris Accord make you think we stopped caring. We aren't going to sacrifice our economy and jobs on the hopes (it isn't legally binding) that other developing nations hold up *their* end of the deal.

The Paris Accord is a treaty, and as such should have gone through our senate for a vote. President Obama, sensing that there wouldn't be enough support for it pass, put the United States all in anyway. It's illegal.

And as far as immigration goes - every lower circuit judge that has denied his travel ban should be disbarred and arrested for obstructing US Homeland Security. You don't get to bring partisan politics into the courts and into American safety. You can't disallow a completely legal executive order just on the notion you don't like who it is coming from. If that's the case - why do we have a justice system at all? One only needs to take a look at London, France and Germany to see why his ban should absolutely be allowed under those 6 countries.

Re: Politics

I am happy to see California and other states making a stand again Trumps idiotic stance. Turning back the clock and focusing on coal and off-shore drilling will help to stall out those technical advances. Hey why not, global warming is a hoax according to Trump.

As far as immigration, they need to better police the immigrants that are entering and who are already here. Banning all Muslim refugees coming in from Syria as Trump originally proposed is just asinine.

Re: Politics

From poverty.org, regarding the health "care" bill currently being fast walked, behing closed doors, in the Senate:
There is a giant scandal in Washington this week—and it’s not the one blaring from your television screen. Largely without media scrutiny, the United States Senate is quietly getting ready to pass their version of the House bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act. If it looks anything like the legislation the House passed last month—and by most accounts, it does—the bill could take away health care coverage from millions (the House-passed American Health Care Act would take away health insurance from 23 million people in 10 years).

The Senate’s stealth strategy here should come as no surprise: They learned from the House. After the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) found that 24 million people would lose health care under the initial version of the AHCA bill, constituents responded by flooding House offices with phone calls. Paul Ryan and Republican leadership were forced to cancel a vote in mid-March, because the public opposition to the bill made it impossible to secure the votes they needed. The House then went back to their members and passed a new version, with no CBO score or media coverage, in order to mask the effects of their bill.
If you care--whether because it affects you, someone you love, or simply because you think it's criminal to do this to millions of fellow citizens, most of whom can't fight back (children can't vote, for one)--here's one way to do it.

Re: Politics

Senator Mike Lee (R), who is part of the health care working group, says in this video that neither he, nor his colleagues, have seen the bill that's slated for vote next week. "I share your concerns about the secrecy, blah blah" but he stops short of saying he won't vote for something he hasn't seen.

Re: Politics

The Senate version of AHCA (Trumpcare) bill has finally been released. You can see it clicking here.

A couple of highlights:
-on page 29, they eliminate tax on tanning
-on 41, they eliminate essential care benefits. Which are:
The Affordable Care Act requires non-grand fathered health plans in the individual and small group markets to cover essential health benefits (EHB), which include items and services in the following ten benefit categories: (1) ambulatory patient services; (2) emergency services; (3) hospitalization; (4) maternity and newborn care; (5) mental health and substance use disorder services including behavioral health treatment; (6) prescription drugs; (7) rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; (8) laboratory services; (9) preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management; and (10) pediatric services, including oral and vision care.
-on page 86, the decimate Medicaid
-on page 133, they reduce the time commitment to fight opioid addiction to ONE fiscal year. Worth nothing: Medicaid covers treatment for addiction, so this is a double whammy there.
-on page 133, cut over $4billion from Prevention and Public Health Fund; need immunizations or other preventative care? Sorry 'bout that, this is where that comes from.
-on pag 135, allows insurance companies to charge you more if you have a pre-existing condition (like say, you were raped (vaginal abrasions), have been pregnant, are diabetic, have high blood pressure, or gee, acne)

All the Senators who weren't in on the secret meetings--ALL Democratic senators, and MOST of the Republican senators--have less than a week to read the ~150 pages, evaluate how the bill will affect their constituents, and vote.

Gee, just like the months of discussions and amendments and public hearings that ACA (Obamacare) went through in a Democratic dominated Congress, right? Exactly like that.

/sarcasm

At any rate, if you think that perhaps this may affect you, you may want to give your senators a call, see what they plan to do about YOUR healthcare.
