gift cards make great gifts both for shoppers who are lazy and/or have a lot of gifts to buy. They're also a shrewd choice if there are individuals in your life for whom it is difficult to shop. When bought through the astore, they also help support this site, which isn't self-sufficient and doesn't hold fund-raisers or any of that other crap.

Please consider doing at least some of your holiday shopping through our astore this year.

Honestly, Wild Cards never ends either. Just give up after book 11. You'll feel like you've reached the end of the story then anyway.
It doesn't sound like my cup of tea as I'm not big on reading superhero comics or stories. Having a bunch of authors in the universe just makes canon a mess as well.

Re: GRRM's Wild Cards

Thieves' World had that problem come up a few times, but Martin rules Wild Cards with an iron fist, and the Wild Card virus itself is an easy out for any little inconsistencies that slip through his tight metal fingers.

Re: GRRM's Wild Cards

He started off with a great stable of authors, but as you might expect they didn't all appreciate the heavy handedness of Martin's autocratic process. They mostly drifted off as their characters were killed off, and moved on to their own projects rather than create more great characters for GRRM to kill off at whim. By book 11, the only heavyweight left (besides himself) was Melinda Snodgrass. He reloaded with a bunch of mostly young no-names, and that's where things started to go badly wrong. A great editor like Martin can do some pretty amazing things, but if he and Melinda did everything themselves, it would be merely collarorative and no longer Mosaic. It's sorta like how polyurethane can make shit shine, but it can't make it taste good.

With all that said, though, there are 8 REALLY great books in the series, and others i know even really enjoyed the second one.
