I'm too busy with the NCAA.

Besides which team is likelier to make it to the finals? Clips? or Cavs?

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

A couple of days ago, GSW paid a visit to San Antonio for a game.

It didn't look good during the first-half (GSW were down as much as 20+ points), but they fought their way back to win, 110-98.

What impressed me, and you could plainly see, GSW decided to start playing defense. That's all it took. Lock down on the defensive end, and the rest, as they say, is history.

On another front...We have a new leader in the East. BA's Cav's have been overtaken by the upstarts, Celtics. Who would've thunk it? Oh BA?

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

Yeah, that was one hell of a game, with a full range of emotions, lol. A lot of people who don't pay attention to the Warriors think they just shoot threes all the time, and don't realize that a big key to their game and their offense is excellent team defense. It blows my mind that there are still people out there who say that Dubs don't play defense, and I wonder if they've watched them play at all over the last few years other than Sports Center highlights.

Those young and talented Celtics sure do give us a run for our money when we play them. I honestly would be more worried playing them in the Finals than I would be about the Cavs (more because of their matchup to us specifically, not because I don't think the Cavs are good).

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

The Cavs have lost a lot of games. But I think they've fallen into this notion that it's post-season that matters. Who can blame them really? The NBA season is ridiculously long. Besides plenty of teams have triumphed not being the top seed. The Pistons championship year when they beat higher seeded Indiana and then the higher seeded LA Lakers (almost in a sweep). Of course the Lakers were suffering from the Kobe Shaq crisis. But still. If anything will keep the Celtics focused it's their coach. Baby face what's his name. Again though it's just stupid not to have a system where the Warriors and the Spurs don't have a chance a play each other in the finals. If someone upsets either team, then fine. But the chance should be there. They are the two best teams record-wise.

You're right, Liz, those "people" are only looking at the 3-pt. shots, and granted the Warriors make a lot of them.

But, they play swarming defense. Defense like the Bulls played during the MJ/Pippen era. And, if you take a look at the five players on the floor, rarely is there a prototypical "Bigman" playing. Usually, Green is playing the "5".

BA, your team has been bitten by the injury bug of late. Yeah, so have a lot of other teams, but as soon as one player returns, another one goes down.

Don't get me started on the length of an NBA season. There's been men in the know that have wanted to cut the season to 60 games. I'd definitely be in favor of something along those lines.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

The grind of the season is one of the things that makes the post season. The old cliche about separating the men from the boys...if people are whining about it that means there are too many boys out there on the court.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

The playoffs kicked off today, and Boston, the #1 seed in the East, lost at home!

The MVP result will be interesting too. I'd vote for Russ if i had a vote, but there are at least two other solid candidates.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

The east remains the NBA step-cousin.

I don't know if any team from the east will match the top four from the west. The Cavs aren't as strong as last year. We'll see how many one-point victories they can pull from lesser teams.

My Clippers fight all of last quarter of the season getting into the 4th seed in the West. They also loose game #1 against the Jazz, at home.

Mr. Mo, what's going to happen in New York? Jackson says 'Melo should go elsewhere, and 'Melo, with his no-trade clause, is just going to cash game checks.

Re: NBA/WNBA Thread

Hodge, i wish i knew.

As for the Cavs, they've been banged up this year, but if they can stay healthy until the Finals (idk if it's possible) they can hang with any team from the West. I don't think any other East team would stand a chance in the Finals.

ETA: Cavs looked pretty healthy tonight.
