I mean with names like that, you can't go wrong.

Then there is Stiglmeier in Illinois. Anton Stiglemeier mastered his sausage in Munich Germany over 50 years ago, and his wife Gertraud has had a hand on sausages dating back to her childhood days in Bavaria.

The trick is finding an authentic German sausage maker, and that's probably what she remembers from Ohio. Germans are all up in that business up there.
in fact it was a german or amish family as i recall

Re: best sausage available online

I've had some great sausages and the best one came from a farmer's market outside of Ann Arbor, so I'm going to suggest, Zaph, that if you get the time, peruse those venues and sample some sausage and pick from there.
Detroit has a large open air market called Eastern Market. Maybe your area would have something like that in the downtown area.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with for your mom. You're a good son to do this.

In my dad's last years he wanted some (say) "kroos-cheeky" or angle wings, a Polish cookie that is like eating powder sugar on a crispy piece of air.
I couldn't find it anywhere, but now I see them all over.

Yes, silly things we do to please our folks.

I got my step-father a remote control F-350 Superduty for his birthday this year. He had that thing out of the package and was driving my mom insane within 4 seconds. No 5 year old was ever so happy to get a toy for his birthday.

(just as a reminder, she had a minor stroke and triple-bypass surgery this year). As vonne would say, no lady likes having her nasty side pointed out, so i'll be gentle and say that she's a demanding and ungrateful patient in general. (It's genetic, everybody on that side of the family is like that except i sometimes (but only sometimes) remember to say thank you.) Anyway, when they go for their therapeutic walks, he loves to have the truck running in circles around them. She hates it, which is probably the only real reason he loves it. Ain't love grand? I'm so glad i found that truck for him.
