I liked this! It has a great cast and an intriguing story. I liked Fargo II, which Hawley directed. I LOVED the music from that series. I'm looking forward to the music offered in this series. This episode featured 3 songs:

Re: Legion - FX Wednesday

This may be confusing but the confusion is so well done! I really enjoyed the Premier even if it was hard to follow. (Including why David's sister didn't sneak off to the basement rec-room earlier to remove the sharp pointy things before she left David alone down there...She did already know about his abilities, from what he did to the kitchen. He did a remarkably good job repairing that lamp -- wish we could have seen how he did it.)

I'm glad Aubrey Plaza hasn't been sidelined already, and hope we get more of Hamish Linklater. He adds just the right note of sympathetic frustration to his frightening.

The music was fun. And Syd Barrett -- wasn't that the name of the short-term leader of Pink Floyd?

Yeah, I'm kind'a hoping he's going to be the "bad guy" throughout the series.

As a Marvel fan, it's cool to see this character done in such a different way, plus outside of the MCU. I did think it was pretty funny to see Syd don the gloves to avoid contact, ala Rogue. Think there may be other allusions to the MCU in some of these characters.

The big yellow puffy guy? Not sure who that's going to be.

Soup, I didn't remember the character at all. I assumed I'd left the MCU by then.

If you feel up to it, why don't you give us a characterization from the comic POV?

Well, in a nutshell, David Haller was the son of Charles Xavier, aka Professor X. He is a powerful mutant who is burdened with multiple personality disorder. His powers were represented as being "controlled" by individual personalities, plus he absorbed the personality of a terrorist. This may be represented by some of the people he sees in this show.

In one of the coolest story-lines I read before I stopped collecting, Legion goes back in time to kill Magneto, thinking this would help his father. He inadvertently kills Xavier, however, creating an alternate timeline where Xavier wasn't around to form the X-Men, creating what was known as the Age of Apocalypse. This gave us a different take on so many established, and forgotten, mutants, even some cool brand new characters.

I know this story is not really tied to anything Marvel, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the themes or takes on David's powers will be utilized on the show.

Re: Legion - FX Wednesday

I've been enjoying this so far. I'd like to point out that Legion may be telepathic AND have multiple personalities AND that may have been even further complicated by his contact/switch with Syd. Speaking of Syd...

YES. Syd Barrett was the original front man for Pink Floyd. He appears only on their first album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn. It has been widely speculated that the character Pink from the movie The Wall was loosely based on him. After his release from asylum into his mother's care, several solo full-length major-label releases followed. They are strange, but not without merit.

The PF album is better. David Bowie does a nice cover of See Emily Play on his Pinups album.
