Re: Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/All Access Sunday

It is available on Netflix if you live somewhere other tan the U.S.

Within the U.S., you have to subscribe to CBS all access. $7 a month with commercials and $10 a month if you want commercial free...

..and with CBS all access, you don't even have availability for all prior CBS programming, so really in most cases you would be paying that money just for
this show.

In Canada it's being broadcast on Space which is a specialty channel that is part of basic cable.

It's also available on Crave, which is a Canadian streaming service.

It isn't available on Netflix in Canada though.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/All Access Sunday

I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. Gonna give it a few more episodes.
One thing:
Spoiler: don't click unless you've seen 1st two episodes!
IMDB has Michelle Yeoh listed as being in 15 episodes. So either they're gonna have a ton of flashback, or she has some kinda miraculous resurrection?

Spoiler: spoiler for first two episodes
The picture also shows her with the other captain. Maybe they just did those things so as not to spoil her death?

I think it's flashbacks as well

Man, watching E2, was like viewing a movie. Yeah, I've got a big screen tv, but the "special effects" throughout the episode just gave it a cinematic experience.

I better let everyone know, the episode scheduled for next Sunday (October 1, 2017), will be E3. So, make sure and watch this episode first.

I personally thought this episode was just as good, or better than the premiere.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/All Access Sunday

I expect this show to be pirated more than Game of Thrones.

Here's an interesting article on how Star Trek fans most likely got played by Les Moonves.

EDIT: I don't agree that the show itself is in trouble though. I have a feeling they have a non-public commitment to the show for a few seasons, but they may lower the budget where necessary.

I don't see it being worthy as the tentpole of a streaming service though. Maybe if the abrams trek movies never came out.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/All Access Sunday

Although I'm curious about watching further, with cable, Netflix and Amazon costs, I'm not ready to shell out another 7-10 bucks a month for another service. I'll wait for the DVD or when it shows up on Netflix.

What's going to really piss me off is when the networks start pulling their content from Netflix and Amazon to start their own streaming services. I've read that Disney is already doing this, so who's next? Instead of having a service that includes a variety of content, we'll be stuck paying out $10 per month for each specialized streaming service.

I guess there's something to be said about moving off cable and just paying for specialized content, maybe they'll have package deals that will wind up costing less than cable or satellite, but I'm not ready to limit my choices, even if the system is doing it for me.

What I'm hoping will happen is that as more and more networks try to start up their streaming services and fail to attract subscribers, they'll run back to Netflix or Amazon.
